1970年代、ドラマのTBSと言われていた頃。水曜劇場シリーズからは「時間ですよ」を始め後に「ムー一族」等日本のテレビホームドラマに数々の伝説を残す名作、傑作が登場した。その代表的な作品が「寺内貫太郎一家」通称「テラカン」だ。核家族化が囁かれ始めた時代にあえて大家族ホームドラマとして放送され、視聴者に「昭和の良き時代」と「家族とは？」を再認識させてくれた。基本はコメディーであるが、毎回、単なるコメディーでは絶対に終わらない。日常のささやかな出来事を描かれているが、向田邦子の脚本は実に素晴しいの一言。貫太郎と息子の周平が茶の間を中心に毎回ドタバタと取っ組み合いの大ゲンカ。「ジュリ〜」と叫ぶお金婆さんとお手伝いのミヨちゃんの掛け合いも最高に面白い。左とん平や今は亡き伴惇三郎など脇を固めるベテラン俳優陣の演技も見物。この第1シリーズに続いて翌年放送された第2シリーズも是非ともこの機会にDVD化を望みたい。

石屋の頑固親父を中心に面白おかしな家族と住人達のホームコメディ
毎回必ず展開される茶の間での乱闘シーンはホームドラマの代名詞といえる。
遊び心満載の脚本・演出（向田邦子に久世光彦、音楽に傷天コンビ、そして横尾忠則）
個性的な俳優陣（伴淳、由利徹、左とん平、樹木希林、これで面白くないわけがない）
基本はコメディでありながら、登場人物の誰もが自分に素直に、真剣に生き
他人とぶつかり、また互いを思いやる、家族の絆を強く考えさせられるドラマです。

私がちょうど小学校の時に放送されていたのを鮮明に覚えており、それが今回発売されて見ましたが、今にはない古き良き時代風景がよく表現されていると思います。家庭内の思いやり、親しき中にも礼儀ありということわざの意味するもの、など今ではなくりつつあったものがよく表現されていて、なつかしくもあり、自信が出てきますよ。

黒電話や、別棟になっている渡り廊下、ふすまやガラスの出入り口、毎朝の欠かさない神棚へのお祈りなど違った意味でも面白い作品ですよ！
