　68年8月英国7枚目のオリジナルLP用に12曲がPYEレコードにてテスト・プレスされて9月発売の運びとなった。（同時には米国9枚目のFOUR MORE RESPECTED GENTLEMENとして11曲がREPRISEレコードに送られた。）　プレス等の前評判も上々であったが、何か物足りないというレイ・デイヴィスの要請で発売直前に中止。（仏・伊等では発売後回収）　結局2曲を削り3曲を加えた15曲（うち2曲は別ミックス）で11月発売。　ところが、PYEとの関係悪化からプロモーションもなく、人知れず発売されたため現在の評価とは裏腹にチャート・インすらしなかった。

　本作はこの関連音源を収録したもので、Disc１1~15がSTEREO盤全曲（ボーナスを含めて11834141791613101119の順に並べ替えると発売中止の12曲盤となる）。　Disc21~15はMONO盤全曲、16181920はMONOシングル、17と21が初登場MONO曲。　Disc3で初登場は171014（インスト）、48（2004ﾘﾐｯｸｽSTEREO）、1317（STEREO）、6（Alt STEREO）、919（MONO）、20~22（BBCﾘﾐｯｸｽ）。　既発は上述FOUR MORE~収録235、73年米LP THE GREAT LOST KINKS ALBUM収録11121516、シングルB面18。

　関連音源で未収録なのはPictures In The Sand、When I Turn Off The Living Room Light、Till Death Us Do Part（この3曲は上述GREAT LOST~収録）、She’s Got Everything（Disc２16のB面だが66年2月録音のため。因みに上述FOUR MORE~の曲順は、本曲、Disc114164、3-5、1-17／1-8、3-31-311,3-2）、以上の4曲。

　音質は旧リマスターCD（MONO盤）が高域を強調していたのに対し、幾分バランスが改善され大音量でも自然で聴き易くなった程度で顕著な改善はない。　4面見開きの凝った作りで詳細なブックレット付属。（ただし歌詞記載なし）　オススメの1枚（3枚組）。

今までのこの作品のCDの音の悪さに閉口して来た人にとっては非常に嬉しいリイッシューです。
やっと、Village Greenのステレオ版をまともな音質でCDで聴けます。
この作品を愛していて、今迄に何種類もアナログ盤やCDを手にして来た人達にとって、これこそがCDとしての決定版と言えます。
この作品を長年聞き込んできた人にこそこの盤で聞いて欲しいと思います。
全く新しい気持ちでVillage Greenを聴ける喜びは他の何物にも変えられません。

5.0 out of 5 stars また何年か後に出るのかも…でも結局買っちゃうんだよね~, 2004/7/4
届いて聞きまくりました。収録曲は上記曲とはちょっと違いますので気をつけてください。（特にShe's Got Everythingを聞きたい方は注意！）Disk1、2はまあボチボチな仕上がりです。（オリジナルマスターがこんな感じなんでしょうね）前リマスター盤はレベルが低い感じがしましたが、今回は上がってる分迫力がある感じです。でもやっぱりDISK3！ファン必聴です。個人的にはYellow Submarineでお馴染みのリミックスされた「Johnny Thunder」。解説には「残念ながら…」と出来るのに１曲だけなのか、これしか出来ない状態なのかが曖昧に記載されてて「どっちなんだよ！」って感じなんですが。これ１曲だけでもイメージが全然違ってて衝撃的ですよ。これひょっとして全曲リミックス盤がまた何年後かに出たりして…でもまた懲りずに買っちゃうんだよな~
