   2004年リリースの新編集ビデオ・コンピレーション。「ボヘミアン・ラプソディ」を筆頭に時代を超えて愛され続けるヒット・ナンバー全16曲を収録。
   まだミュージック・ビデオが珍しかった時代に新しい映像表現を追求していった作品の数々は今見ても古臭さを感じさせない。4人が貴公子然とした「キラー・クイーン」からフレディ・マーキュリーの濃すぎるキャラが炸裂する「愛という名の欲望」、SF映画『メトロポリス』をモチーフにした「RADIO GA GA」、フレディがエイズ死する直前に撮られた一世一代の名演「狂気への序曲」など、バンドの変遷を映像と名曲の数々でたどることが出来る。本作用に新たに作られた「ボーン・トゥ・ラヴ・ユー」クリップはフレディのソロ・バージョンとクイーンのライヴ映像を組み合わせたものだが、キメ細かい編集で違和感を感じさせない。日本盤アナログ・シングルのジャケットをタイトルとして使うなど、クイーンLOVE度の高い好DVDで、入門編としては最適だろう。ボーナスとしてフォト・ギャラリーを追加。（山崎智之）

同タイトルのCD同様に、基本的にはクイーン初心者向けで、あまり真新しさはありません。
選曲にも言いたいことはありますが、新しいファンを開拓するため、良しとしましょう。
グレイテスト・ビデオ・ヒッツ1&2。そしてフレディのソロビデオ・コレクションと、ほとんどの曲が重複します。

でも、価格的には非常にお買い得です！

家庭用VTRすら一部の富裕家庭にしかなかった'80s前半世代には、この値段でクイーンの映像が手に入るのは感激です。４曲（I was born to love youのクイーン・バージョンを含む）だけですが、DVD初登場の映像もありますし。
CDは買う気がしませんでしたが、映像は別。フレディが映っているだけで、涙が出そうになります。

最近の再ブームでクイーンを好きになった方。このDVDを観た後は『ラスト・ツアー/クイーン1986』をお勧めします。
下世話な言い方ですが「伝説のライブ」は涙ものですよ。この世界ツアーの日本公演（武道館公演を私も観に行きましたが）は手抜きだったのか！と思わせるほどの迫力です。

今は亡き永遠のスーパースター、フレディ・マーキュリーの勇姿とクィーン珠玉の名曲の数々を堪能できる逸品である。ほとんどがシングルカットされた曲なので、ヴェリーベストというよりもシングルＡ面コレクションといった感じだが、クィーンの数ある優れた楽曲の中でも知名度に着目すればこの選曲は当然の帰結ではないだろうか。（じつはもっと優れた楽曲が存在するのだが・・・）クィーンの最大の魅力はいわゆるロックミュージックを更に昇華させ、美しい旋律と知性的な展開、静と動を巧みに使い分けた華麗なるパフォーマンス、そしてノスタルジックでありどこか物悲しさを残すヨーロッパ的美学である。おそらく他に類を見ないほど彼らの音楽的、ビジュアル的スタイルはユニークであり、その存在自体が奇跡だったといえる。彼らの神々しいまでに完成された美学は、後期の時代に迎合したようなディスコサウンドをモチーフにした曲ではなく、初期でありながら代表的名曲の「ボヘミアン・ラプソディー」や「伝説のチャンピオン」「愛にすべてを」で遺憾なく発揮されている。

既発の『GH1』と『GH2』からの美味しいとこ取りでサブタイトル通りのまさに「ヴェリー・ベスト」！CD『ジュエルズ』で彼等を知った方且つ未だ”動く”彼等をご覧になった事の無い方には、最適・最良な１枚。

『GH1』と『GH2』をお持ちの方は、「ボーン・トゥ~」のみの為に買うのは躊躇するでしょうが、買ってしまえばやっぱりヘヴィロ-ティングです（笑）。但し「伝説のチャンピオン」は、Freddieのドアップから始まりメンバーのカーテンコールのある別ヴァージョンを収録して欲しかったですね。

続けて彼等のDVDの購入をお考えならば『GH1』→『ラストツアー』→『GH2』の順で買われると良いでしょう。年末、英国では『GH2』にも収録されていた1982年の英国ミルトンキーンズでのライヴDVDの発売が決定。日本盤は、年始かな？
