待望の全話収録ＤＶＤ-ＢＯＸ。

特筆すべきなのは、１枚あたり６話収録にも関らずブロックノイズがほぼ皆無に等しい最高のエンコード。
さらに現在では差別的表現と取られるセリフもカットすることなく完全に収録してあります。

テレビで再放送ができないわけです。
現代（戦後）日本の価値観への強烈な皮肉になってます。
この作品の中のハーロック一味以外の地球人と今の日本人はそっくりです。
平和主義者が見たら気分が悪くなるんじゃないでしょうか？登場人物の価値観が全く違いますし。ばたばたと人間もマゾーンも死んでいきますし。

ハーロックは約束を守るために命をかける。親友の娘が住む地球を守るために命をかける。
敵の女王ラフレシアもマゾーン族の命運を担って、心を鬼にしてあえて冷酷に決断し行動する。そして、自らの命をかけてハーロックと剣を交える。
戦いの中で「命をかけて守るもの」を持つ者同士の間に敵味方を超えた理解が生まれていく。
う〜ん！！深い！！そして心理描写がリアルです。

やっぱり1970年代で日本人の勇気や冒険心、義侠心は死んだのかなと、この作品を見ると思ってしまいます。「自分の命より大切なものがある」という価値観自体、現在の日本人にはリアルに感じられなくなっているのでは？
この作品と劇場映画「銀河鉄道999」に登場するハーロックこそ「本物のハーロック」だと思います。

キャプテン・ハーロックの記念すべきTVアニメ初作で、他の松本アニメと比べても、子供っぽくなく、大人の観賞に堪えうる作品です。
長らくＶＨＳ版は、リリースされてたんですが、やっとＤＶＤで出ます
りん・たろう監督作品でもあり、現在のアウトサイド・レジェンドと見比べるのも面白いと思います。
