本作は、エールの最高傑作『Moon Safari』から5年を経てリリースされた。パリらしいムードをみなぎらせたエールが、最高の仕事をこなして帰ってきたのだ。自らも繰り返し言っているように内気な性格 で有名なJB・ドゥンケルとニコラス・ゴダンは、（2人にとって不思議なことに）不評だった『10,000 Hz Legend』と、ソフィア・コッポラ 監督映画の実に不可思議なサントラ盤『Virgin Suicides』にここ数年を費やしてきた。だが、彼らお得意の方法論を展開したなかなかの作品ではあるものの、リスナーの本当の期待とはほ ど遠かった。うれしいことに本作では、エールの大好きな姿――過去に傾ける耳と未来を見つめる目を持ったふたりの絶望的なまでに甘ったるいロマンチックさ――に再会できる。とろけるほどすてきなトラック――時間と場所という概念がない代わりに、痛烈なサイケデリアに乗ってのたうつクールで壮大なポップ・ソングのコレクションだ。
本作は2人が自ら担当したヴォーカルと、セルジュ・ゲンスブールのコラボレーター、ミシェル・コロンビエの手によるはかなくきらびやかなストリングスによって上々の滑り出しを見せる。ひょっとすると、たとえばレディオヘッドのプロデューサーのナイジェル・ゴッドリッチなどのように外部からプロデューサーを招いたおかげで、これほどまでに美 しく整然とした音作りができたのではないだろうか？ いずれにしろ、神々しい「Cherry Blossom Girl」といった繊細な叙情詩は、10ccの名曲「I'm Not in Love」を思わせる包みこむよう なヴォーカルを聴かせる「Ran」といったエレクトロニックの傑作トラックとみごとな調和をとっている。（Paul Tierney, Amazon.co.uk）
