長い舌をダラリと垂らすことで有名なKISSのベーシストといえばジーン・シモンズ。彼がモデルのロッカーが登場するアニメはボブ・ディランより悪い影響を与えると言われたこともあるが、今作は『ラヴ・マイナス・ゼロ』のような世界を反映しているかもしれない。メルボルン・シンフォニー・オーケストラとのコラボレーションで作り上げたパフォーマンスを収録した2枚組のDVD。偉大なロックバンドとオーケストラの共演は長い歴史があるが、評価はあまりかんばしくなかった。果たして今回の試みはどうだろうか。ディスク1に収められたものはこのプロジェクト実現への経過を追ったドキュメンタリー。ステージ上での仮面を脱ぎ捨てたジーン・シモンズが指揮者のデヴィッド・キャンベルと真摯な姿勢で向き合い、楽曲について意見を交換しながら構想を練り上げる様子が収められている。オーケストラとバンドのリハーサル風景からは、息の合った雰囲気が感じ取れる。そして、それはハデなパイロが炸裂する本番のステージにもそのまま引き継がれるのだ。エースは抜けてしまったが、その穴をトミー・セイヤーが見事に埋めている。ゴージャス感がラスヴェガスのショウのように感じられないこともないが、何もかもが驚くべき調和を生み出した、素晴らしい仕上がりのステージである。第3幕が2枚のDVDの両方に収録されていることもあって、やや冗長だと感じる人もいるかもしれないが、“過ぎたるは及ばざるがごとし”という言葉は、ここには存在しないのである。（Jerry McCulley, Amazon.com）
