こうゆうベストが欲しかったので、嬉しいかぎりです。
どの曲もすばらしいですが、私的にうれしかったのが、ナオコさん作詞の「LonelyWay」が収録されていたことです!
他にも「帰愁」、「雨の日の映画館」、「夜に蒼ざめて」など隠れた名曲が収録されています。
研ナオコさんのベストアルバムは多数発売になりましたが、このベストが現在のポニーキャニオンから発売になっているCDで唯一のシングルコンプリートです。
あらためて《歌手・研ナオコ》の素晴らしさを発見できるアルバムです。

サンテレビで再放送していた研さん主演の「わたしはタフな女」という80年代のTVドラマの主題歌を聞いて、
それまであまり意識していなかった研ナオコのファンに今更なってしまいました。
それがこのディスクにも収録されている『別離の黄昏』という曲でした。

ささやくように、語りかけるように、時には嗚咽が漏れ出るような歌い方でしっとりと聴かせます。

本来ダンディーという言葉は、男性に対して使用される言葉だけれど、この人程この言葉が似合うシンカーも珍しいと思う。女性でありながら、男性にしか持ち得ないような儚さまで表現できてしまう中性的な魅力を持っている気がする。男性的な髪型や衣装で歌うイメージがあるというのもあるが、良い意味で吹っ切れたような感情、男性的な強気な感情が曲の中から感じ取る事ができる。そうありながらも同時に儚さを持ち合わせている矛盾性も上記の中性性に相俟って他のシンガーでは感じられない魅力がある。

音域が広かったり、声量があったりというような必ずしも卓越した歌唱力を持っているという訳ではないが、声質に惹きつける魅力がある。ポツポツと囁き返るような歌い方は、思わず耳を済ませて聞いてしまう。私の場合音楽は、普段何か他のことをしながらＢＧＭ的に聴く傾向がある。彼女のＣＤも最初はそういうノリで聞いていたのだけど、しばらくしたら手を止め音楽に集中していた。しまいには、照明まで落として、暗闇の中で聴いていました。我ながらちょっと危ない音楽の聞き方かもしれないけど、私的には研ナオコのＣＤを聴くには実にこのシチュエーションがハマリました。彼女の音楽性を陰と陽で例えるなら、おそらく前者でしょうね。良い意味で漆黒に染まった闇で聴く情念みたいまものを感じる。

中島みゆきを歌いこなせる稀有なシンガーであるのは有名な話です。彼女の提供曲を受けた歌手は多かれど、歌いこなせる歌手はほんの一握りでその筆頭に挙げられるのが研ナオコ。やはり上記の情念や蔭があるのが大きいかもしれません。その他小椋桂・谷村新司等一般的に歌いこなすには相当の力量と表現力を要求される彼らの曲も彼女の魅力を交えつつ伝えているのは本当に聴いていて耳に心地よい。

最近は専らバラエティーのイメージがありますが、音楽番組等で再び歌手研ナオコとしての活躍を期待したいです。
