   ある産婦人科の医師が、第2子出産間近の女性クレアにわいせつ行為をされたと訴えられ自殺。その妻ペイトンはショックのあまり流産、逆恨みから復しゅうを計画し、乳母としてクレアの家に住み込むことに成功する...。
   クレアの友人マリーンが「ゆりかごを揺らす手は世を支配する手」と忠告をしたにもかかわらず、ペイトンを乳母に採用するまでの過程が安易だがその分、ペイトンの心の奥底に秘められたしたたかな復讐心を垣間見ることができる。そして、夫とともに失った自分の子供への愛情をクレアの子供たちに向けるさまは、自分では抑えることのできない母性本能を感じさせる作品にも仕上がっていて見ごたえがある。ただ、現在妊娠中の人には衝撃が強すぎるサスペンス・スリラーだ。（近藤鈴佳）

こういう形で子供を失った女性がこういう犯罪に走る理由、充分理解可能。しかしこれは世間で言う「逆恨み」。しかし尚同情を禁じえない。当然ながら被害者の立場も良くわかる。加害者被害者、双方に感情移入させてしまうという驚きの手法で、観る者をストーリーに引き込む作品。一級のサスペンスドラマ。
レベッカの押さえた演技が光るが、観る者を楽しませるツボをよく心得ているカーティス・ハンソン監督をほめるべきだろう。彼はこの作品の５年後「L.A.コンフィデンシャル」を世に送りだしている。

恐怖映画特有の刺激的シーンがおさえられていることで、

個々人の心情が静かに察知でき、考えることができました。

悪役の方の人生が結果的に奈落の底なのを見て、

悪の感情にとらわれやすい人情の悲しさと、

最も恐ろしい物は人情であるということを

同時に感じました。

カメラワークも綺麗でクレバーな映画だと思いました。

静かにじわじわと復讐女が家庭を乗っ取ろうする、静かだからこそ恐ろしい。
正体がばれてからは殺人鬼（結局死ぬのは○○だけだが）に変わるが、できれば最後まで静かに終わっていった方が面白かったかもしれない、これはこれで面白いが。

若い夫婦が住み込みのベビーシッターを雇うということ自体日本人には馴染みがない、しかもあんなに美しい女性を雇うとは有り得ないだろう（笑）。

レベッカ・デ・モーネイはとにかく美しいですね、「卒業白書」の頃から美しく気品がある。
