まず、「マイハート・デクレアズ・ア・ホリデー」をアコースティックでやってると知り、前のライブで「ブリッジ・オブ・イニビジョン」があんまりだったので、試聴をし、良かったので買った。　ワンオブ・ア・カインドとかかなり古い曲もやってますが、みんな良いです。　こう言う演奏もわるくない、決して懐古趣味じゃない。　そうそう、新曲でログドラムとかパーカッションやってたりもするので、ドラマーとすれば一風変わった面も見られるのも面白い。　ボルストラップとの共演作も含めてとにかく買いだ！　良い演奏ですよ！　良い曲ですよ！！

2004年の4月、表参道でライブを見たときと同じメンバーのライブ録音。2003年オークランドでの録音です。

それまで一度もビル先生のEARTH WORKSを聞いたことなく、強烈な演奏力と音楽的クオリティーに驚いて、会場の裏でこのCDを買い、あげくにはビルにファンメールを送ってしまったほどですｗ

今回のメンバーはフロントマンが強烈にアートを心得ています。

スティーブハミルトンはロンドンの新鋭ピアニスト。とにかくコードワークが非常に素晴らしく、ソロはシャープかつアート。惚れました。間違いなく彼抜きではこのバンドを語れないぐらいの凄さ。

ティムガーランドはチックコリアとの競演など数々の戦歴の持ち主らしいです。実際の演奏は、テナー、ソプラノ、フルート、バスクラリネットと曲調によって使い分け、エフェクターも効果的に使い、人間的な暖かみと多彩で強烈なテクニックが共存するスーパーオジサン！ジャケットのフューチャーリングは納得の納得です。

肝心のビル先生はもちろん最高。年を取るにつれパワーアップ。音の間合いは超一級。魅了されるドラム。スイングがどうこうとかのレベルではなく、体が自然にビル先生のドラムに調和する。こんなドラマーそうはいません。

味のわかる音楽ファンにはお勧めの21世紀の超名盤。

残念ながら、公の演奏会から引退するという、元キング・クリムゾンのドラマー、ビル・ブラッフォードのバンドEarthworksの名演です。Eathworksの中の１枚を選んでお勧めするとしたら、私はこれを選びます。もう１枚選ぶなら、ちょっとクリムゾンの匂いを残して、ブラッフォードがシモンズ（エレクトリック・ドラム）を叩きまくる１枚目「Earthworks」です。この作品「Random Acts of Happiness」は、現代のJazz作品として、シビアなJazzファンでも聴けると思いますし(たぶん）、Yes、King Crimson、U.K.、 ABWHと、プログレのドラマーとしてのブラッフォードを追いかけてきたロックファンも、Jazz風だからと毛嫌いせずに聴いて欲しいです。ただし、もうキング・クリムゾンを期待しては、だめです。ブラッフォードという、個性あるドラマーの行き着いた先、まさに今の表現（音）を味わって欲しいと思います。このところ、５０年代、６０年代のJazzに少し飽きたら、よく聴いている１枚です。持っていて、損はない１枚です。かつてのクリムゾンのブラッフォードが大好きだった方、聴いてくださいね。
