岩井俊二監督『リリィ・シュシュのすべて』で一躍話題になったSalyuとILMARIの初ユニット作品は、閉塞感のあるこんな時代に久々に登場する心に染みる名バラード。。タイトルの「VALON」とはILMARIの故郷フィンランド語で「光の中へ」という意味。プロデュースは小林武史による。

イルマリに関しては知っていたが、女性の方ははじめてだった。あの声はUAとかBIRDとかそんな感じかな。すごく神秘的な感じ。曲が全体的に不思議なイメージで、感動した。イルマリのリリックもいたってマジメ。メッセージ性の高い曲になっている。私はRIPSLYMEのファンですが、正直DANDELIONより感動します。温かい感動ではないけでど、言葉にできない感動です。

Salyuの歌声は文句なくいい。タイトルを裏切らず、高みへと昇り光の世界を感じたくなる。でもそれは黄泉の国でもある。２人の絶妙なコンビネーション。Ilmariが力強く地上を感じさせてくれる。その２つが本来の生命力。心地良い音楽に留まらず大切なメッセージを伝えてくれる。小林武志とアーティストの出会いは奇跡のような曲になる。

Salyuの透き通る高音域の音量とクールなIlmariのラップが結構よくマッチしている曲です。都会の窒息しそうな、depressiveな雰囲気の状況でもこの曲を聞いていると癒される気がします。

ボクはこの曲を聞いてからSalyuのファンになりました。別バージョンの「Valon 1」はSalyuのボーカルを前面に出し、曲そのものを聞かせている感じです。個人的にはどちらかというとIlmariとのコラボの方が曲に厚みがでる感じがしてより混とんとしていて面白いと思います。

Valon、Valon1ともにパソコンで曲のＰＶがみれます。Ilmariかっこいいね〜。。。あれっ歌ってないときはただ下うつむいてるだけかい（笑）。

実は自分の結婚式の曲を選ぶとき、全部洋楽にするはずが、最後の曲だけValonにしました。なんか未来に向けて２人でがんばろうみたいなメッセージをこめて。好評だったらしく、だれ最後の曲？ってみんなに聞かれました。
