   2本のエレガントな監督作品を見れば分かるとおり、ソフィア・コッポラは才能豊かな映画監督であり、人間の内面を見通す鋭い目を持っている。おまけに、彼女は耳もいい。東京を舞台に、行き場を失った2人のアメリカ人が年齢差を超えて親密になっていくというストーリーの『ロスト・イン・トランスレーション』では、時差ボケも吹っ飛ぶような素晴らしい音楽を聴くことができる。

   コッポラが用意したのは、まさにこの映画にぴったりなマイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタインの「Sometimes」や、ジーザス＆メリー・チェインの刺々しい「Just Like Honey」を始めとする、一連のシューゲイザー・ポップ。これらの音楽は、ビル・マーレイ演じる中年の危機を迎えた映画スターと、スカーレット・ヨハンソン演じる孤独感を抱えた20代の女性のモヤモヤした頭の中を表現する。また、彼らの異国での冒険をしっかりと温かく包み込む役割も果たしている。コッポラは、プロデューサーのブライアン・レイツェルと手を組んで、マイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタインのケヴィン・シールズに何曲かスコアを書かせた。シールズが提供したトラックは、ドリーミーで雰囲気たっぷりなインディー・ロック風の仕上がりで、混とんとしていながらスタイリッシュでもある。

   うれしいことに、日本の笑える曲も登場。1970年代初めのバンド、はっぴいえんどによるアメリカ製フォーク・ロックの奇怪なパロディーである。また、シークレット・トラックとして、ロキシー・ミュージックの「More Than This」のマーレイによるカラオケ・バージョンが入っている。劇中でマーレイが披露した眠そうな歌声が、そのまま収録されているのだ。（Marc Weidenbaum, Amazon.co.uk）

ケーブルTVでケヴィンシールズの「City Girl」のPVを見た時から結構気になってて、だけどなかなか買うきっかけも無くて、そんな訳で先日こちらで注文させて頂いてようやくちゃんと音を聴く事が出来ました。
難しい事はともかく、ぼくはサントラってゆうのはなんとなく微妙な感じに思えたりするのですがこれは良かったです。

映画自体観た事が無いけど、曲の流れも良いと思うしアーティストはばらばらだけど一枚のアルバムとして聴ける様な気がします。
それと、個人的な事でいえばデスインヴェガスの曲を気になりつつもまだ聴いた事が無かったのですが、これに入っている「Girls」を聴いてアルバムも聴いてみようかなって思いました。

映画館で見たlost in translationで日本を思い出し、曲にも惹かれ買ってみました。

聞いてみると、映画で聞いた曲ばかり、もう一度映画を思い出し、感動に浸る事ができました。

映画を気に入った方はもちろん、静かなインストゥメンタルが好きな方も聞いて、損はないと思います

まだ、コッポラ監督の作品はバージンスーサイズしかみてないので判りませんが、何か才能をひめてるようにもみえました。幻想的で儚くて。
でも美しい。みたいな。今回の映画はないようは全然知りませんが。
サントラはすごーく期待してます。けっこう有名な歌手（グループ）がうあたってるので、その世界にしんみりとひたっていただけるとよさがわかります。
