ブルックナーの第3番、ノーヴァク版の第3稿を使用。この版の聴き所は幾つもあるが、終楽章のコーダ、金管が吹き鳴らす鋭い三連符の和音に伴って、他の版では無いティンパニが、ちょうどベートーヴェンの運命動機のように響いてくるところである。ここは金管と合わせて演奏するのが難しく、おざなりに小さく叩く演奏がほとんどなのだが(カラヤンは他の版のロールのティンパニでお茶を濁している)、このベームのディスクは効果的にババババーンと叩いてくれます。この箇所だけでも聴く価値がある。もちろん、ホルンがバリバリ割れて聴こえるデッカ独特の録音や、ヨハン・シュトラウスのように軽快な第三、第四楽章(の第二主題)など他にも聴き所は満載である。
