エアロスミスを単なるハードロックバンドだと思っているあなた！それは大きな間違いだ。エアロスミスは、「ハードブルースロックバンド」と呼んだほうが相応しく、ブルースの影響を諸に受けている。
そんなエアロスミスが、自分達が影響を受けたブルースマンの曲をカバーして作成したアルバムがこのホンキンオンボーボウである。でも、内容はというと、もうコテコテのエアロ流になっている。これほどまでに自分達のカラーを確立してしまっているバンドは、カバーをしてもきちんと自分流になるということが顕著に現れている。特にスティーヴンタイラーが歌えばどんな曲でも「エアロスミス」になってしまうのが凄い。
内容を説明すると、７曲目は「コカコーラＣ２」のＣＭ曲として使用された。６曲目、１１曲目はジョーペリーがヴォーカルを務める。２，４，１１曲目は特にノリのいいブルースに変身している。そして８曲目は、このアルバムで唯一のブルースカバーではないオリジナル曲。でも１３曲目のJededは、国内版の売り上げを上げるためにとって付けたようで、不必要であったと思う。

筋金入りのブルースファンでない限り、このアルバムの曲目を見て「これは〜の曲だな」というのは分からないと思う。つまり、エアロスミスのメンバーは古いブルースの大ファンであることがよく分かるであろう。
このアルバムのブルースのオリジナルバージョンを探すのもいいと思うが、エアロスミスの新曲のような気持で聴くのもいいと思う。

　いつまでも暴れてはいられない。多くのバンドは消え去る。バンドという運命共同体は常に変化するものだ。流れ流れて浮き沈みの末、彼らはいま原点回帰に望んでいる。
　あとはスタイルの問題だ。これぞエアロのスタイル。姿勢が、構え方が、ひとつの完成形を作っている。

　ブルースのカヴァーアルバムだと知って心配したが、思ったよりずっとヘヴィでハードだった（エアロスティックだった）。冒頭の<ロード・ランナー>で安心して、<プリーズ・ドント・ゴー>で、やっぱりエアロスミスはかっこいいと思う。ジョーの<ストップ・メッシン~>も良い。でもまあ個人的な一番は、やはり唯一の新譜、<ザ・グラインド>だと思う。

　次のオリジナルが楽しみで仕方がない。

ブルースのカバーをしたのが本作「ホンキン・オン・ボーボゥ」です。
「ロードランナー」しか知らなかった自分には、カバーアルバムなんだけどほとんど【新作】として聴くことができました♪
ということで、ブルース知らない人には『カッコイイ！！』と
感じてもらえるはずです。

ブルースアルバムなだけに、このアルバムを聴く時はウイスキーは必須です^ ^更によくなります♪

新曲【グラインド】、大好きです。
スティーブンの声はほんっとにたまりません。

しかしこのスティーブン、うちの親父と同い年なんですが
全然違いますね、当然ですけど・・・
ライブも最高でした！！！
