   トム・ジェンキンソンのソロ・プロジェクト、Squarepusher の進化は危うく見逃してしまいそうなくらい遅々としたものだった。だが7作目となる本作では、チェルムスフォードを拠点に活動するこのエレクトロニカの第一人者がやや荒っぽいドリルンベースを捨て去り、完全にひとり立ちした音楽の生みの親へと成熟した姿を目の当たりにできる。ジャケットのジェンキンソンの真剣なまなざしと羊を思わせるもみ上げを見ればわかる――彼のかつてのヒーローであるジョン・ケージやマイルス・デイヴィス、サン・ラーと同系列のシリアスな音楽にあえて仲間入りしようとしているように感じられる。

   本作はいい線をついている。狂乱のエレクトロ・レイヴと驚くほど複雑なジャズ・フュージョンの即興の70分強を通して、ジェンキンソンは目ぐるましいほどの創造のスピードを緩める気配をまったくみせない。2001年の「My Red Hot Car」でシンセの骨組を形づくった英国ガレージへの浮気心は残念ながら見当たらないが、「Menelee」「Steinbolt」といったトラックでエレクトロニックなハードコアと都会的なジャングリズムとのさまざまな変異体で新たな魅力を見せ、その穴を見事に埋めている。

   また他にも、ジェンキンソンがこれほどライヴ・インストゥルメンタルに情熱をかけるのは1998年の「Music Is Rotted One Note」以来となるサウンドも聴くこともできる。だがこれはいつも歓迎すべきこととは言えない。「C-Town Smash」で鳴らされる自己陶酔的なベース・ソロは、熟練したジャズを新たな笑いの王国に持ちこんでいる。しかし「I Fulcrum」ではサン・ラーが星々のあいだに残した遺産を、まだ未発見の銀河に運びこんでいる。また「Iambic 9 Poetry」はジェンキンソンのメロディーセンス――機械語による狂った音の混沌のなかで明快に響くチャイム楽器がうってつけの例だ――がまったく無傷のまま失われていないことを教えてくれる。（Louis Pattison, Amazon.co.uk）

5.0 out of 5 stars スクエアプッシャーの代表作の一つとなるだろう作品, 2004/10/6
最初聴いたときはピンと来なかったのですが、聴きかえすほどに味わいが増してくるアルバムです。ライブ仕立てで、「擬似ライブ」という意見もききますが、かなり本当のライブ・コンサート・マテリアルも含まれているのではないでしょうか。ライブ・マテリアルにスタジオ曲をまぜたり、オーバーダビングしたり、激しく加工したりと、手法としてはザッパに近いという印象もあります。そして、70分超の長帳場をあきさせないミュージシャンシップというものも感じさせます。「Hard Normal Daddy」「Music Is One Rotten Note」に続く、ジャズ/フュージョン・オリエンテッドな一枚であり、これら作品とならぶスクエアプッシャーの代表作として記憶される作品となるでしょう。過激さも聞かれる反面、他のリヴューアーも述べているとおり、いつになくセンチメンタルな部分もあるのが印象的です。

BIG LOADAが出て以来、彼の音を聞く機会が無かったのですが、
音色、構成、スケール感など確実に進化してます。
いや、進化と言うか次元が違うんですよ。

もはや、エイフェックス・ツインの亜流とか電子版ジャコ・パトリウスとしてブレイクしたアーティストでは無いと断言します。

昔ブームで聴いていた人、初めてSquarepusherを知った人も是非聴いて、鳥肌立てて下さい！
ゴリゴリの曲もメロディアスな曲も程よく散りばめられたこのアルバムは、捨て曲無し！全部聴け！

~この人のセンスは最高だ。
この人の作り出す音楽に出会えて、本当に良かった。
と、常々思っていたが、やってくれるなぁ。
夜の高速をすっとばしなが聴くのに最高！というのは
個人的なテクノ界全体に対する見解ですが、本当に◎なアルバム。

失礼を承知で申し上げると、確かに捨て曲も沢山ある。
しかし、それ以上にぶっちぎりな作品が、匂いが、ある。
~~
3曲目 'Iambic 9 Poetry'、たまらない。
12曲目 'Circlewave'、13曲目 'Tetra-Sync' もやばい。
ドラムすげーかっこいい。
人間が、感性が、本質が、にじみ出てる。
この人、ベースがお得意なんじゃなかったでしたっけ？？

来日おめでとうありがとう。ライヴ見に行っちゃいました。最高の興奮でした。~
