このCDについて

最新シングル 「スターゲイザー」 をはじめ、 「メモリーズ」、「夢追い虫」 などを含む全14曲。1999年以降のシングル収録曲を中心に、全曲アルバム初収録曲で構成。アマチュア時代の代表曲であった 「僕はジェット」 を初音源化。

   1999年から2004年3月の「スターゲイザー」までのアルバム未収録シングルとそのカップリング曲を編集した新作というくくりに、「なんだ企画盤じゃん」と思ったらそれは早とちりというものだ。この1枚には、『ハヤブサ』や『99ep』の頃の、いい意味での試行錯誤期の作品がずらりとそろっている。

   ラテンから8ビートへ転化する力業が半笑いを誘う「ム―ンライト」から、バンドが一気に突き抜けたヒットチューン「メモリーズ」への豪快な流れ。また、彼らの録音物で唯一ドラムの崎山が参加していない「大宮サンセット」での、素朴なオケゆえにより際立つ草野正宗の歌詞の妄想大将っぷりなど、随所にスピッツというNo.1ジャパニーズ・オルタナティヴ・バンドの攻撃性が露呈している。目玉の初音源化収録曲「僕はジェット」では、当初から必死でオリジナルであろうとした彼らの姿勢がうかがえる。（石角友香）

アルバム未収録のものまで収めてくれるのは、アルバム派にとっては嬉しい限り。
しかし嬉しい誤算は「スターゲイザー」が少し浮いているように感じてしまうほどのレベルの高さ。
特に「ムーンライト」の寂寥ながらも力強い曲調が大好きです。

「青春生き残りゲーム」「船乗り」もまた良いです。
これまでの曲のリサイクル系にある纏まりの無さが少し気になりますが…
スピッツのこれまでの「裏」軌跡、ということで
「この曲はこのアルバム出した辺りかな…」
と想像してみるのもまた楽しいかもしれません。

そして「僕はジェット」は本当に初期スピッツを彷彿とさせるリズム。
思わず口元が緩みます。

僕は「僕はジェット」以外、全部シングルで持っているので、新曲が入っていないのが少し残念です。
しかし、シングルで聞いたことがない人にはおすすめします。「SUGINAMI MELODY」は個人的には、宮崎アニメとディズニーの雰囲気をスピッツでかき混ぜているような感じがするかなりの名曲です。「春夏ロケット」ではパンクなスピッツ、「魚」は泣きメロ炸裂、「大宮サンセット」は素朴な優しさが感じられる、といったように本とに色々な衣をまとったスピッツが聴くことが出来ます。

久しぶりのニューアルバムがでてすごいうれしかった。内容は、花鳥風月の第２段みたいなもの。最新シングルのスターゲイザーやメモリーズ、夢追い虫などヒット曲が入っている、しかも僕はジェットはインディーズ時代の代表曲。アルバム的にはすごい好きなのだが、もっと新曲をだしてほしい。
