Weevil have a sound that is very much their own and this includes a wonderful mish mash of acoustic guitars, indie boy vocal harmonies, swirling samples, sampled drum skips, static, cut and paste drums, heavenly piano melodies, old school electro beats, vocal snapshots, dreamtronica, atmospheric drones, shoegazing, delayed guitar lines and abstract sounds. "Drunk On Light" sweeps through the tracks with earnest melancholy and a sentimental edge, and is in places quite breathtaking.

ロンドン出身のデュオの2ndアルバム。

ひきこもりのゴーストが浮かんだような
グリーンのジャケットは地味だが、
サウンドは、とても素晴らしい。

ニューオーダーを思わせるビート、
エレクトロニクスを駆使したサウンドにからむ
繊細なヴォーカル、
メランコリックで美しいメロディ。

独特の空気感と間を持っていて、
ノスタルジックで切なく、

憂いのあるそのサウンドに
胸をしめつけられる。

忘れていた何かを
思い出させてくれるような
不思議な感覚がする。

日本では全く有名でないと思いますが、私は彼氏からこのCDをもらいました。death cab for cutieと通じるところがあります。声が優しくて、どこか寂しげです。だから、夜寝る前に聴くと寄り添ってくれるような、そんな音楽です。
１曲目は美しいピアノの音が印象的、２曲目はエレクトロ・ポップ。決して明るくはないけど、胸に染みてくる優しさがあります。物悲しくも美しい音。
ジャケットもとても不思議。緑の背景に、銀色のまるで宮崎アニメに出てきそうな、幽霊のようにぼんやりしたシルエットが浮かんでいます。
私はついついこのCDを聴いてしまいます。そんな特別な１枚です。ここではないどこか…で鳴り響いている音です。それは、少しシガー・ロスの世界にも通じるように感じます。もっと多くの人に知ってもらいたい。エレクトロ・ポップの「morr　music」が好きな人やデスキャブ好きの人なら必ず気に入ってもらえるはずです。
