元NATIONのギタリスト、ジョニー・ウリーンを中心とした、ディオニソスの2nd。前作はネオクラシカル色を前面に押し出した音で、NATIONのキャッチーな側面が好きだった身としてはイマイチ気に入らないアルバムだったが、今作では典型的な北欧型メロパワのスタイルになっていてもはやNATIONのネの字もないが、むしろこの方がいっそ潔くて良い気もする。オラフ・ヘイヤーのヴォーカルもこの手のサウンドには大変マッチしているし、ジョニー・ウリーンのギターもバックのキーボードとともにネオクラ色をかもし出しつつ、ときに重厚なリフを、そしてここぞというときには叙情メロを弾きまくっている。正統派過ぎてつまらない曲もあるものの、総じてクオリティは高いので安心して聴ける。

知る人ぞ知る今は無き北欧の名バンドＮＡＴＩＯＮのギタリスト、ジョニー・ウリーンが在籍するメロディック・メタルバンドの２ｎｄアルバム。

メンバーはジョニー以外はそれぞれ、オラフ・ヘイヤー（Vo：LUCA　TURILLI）、ノビー・ノーべり（b：元NATION）、カスパー・ダールクヴィスト（Key：STORMWIND）、ロニー・ミリアノヴィッチ（dr：元SINERGY）の５人。いずれも今日のメロディック・メタル界ではそれなりに名が通ったメンバーが集まって創り出される音楽は、クラシカルな叙情性を存分に湛えたメロディック・メタル。

ＮＡＴＩＯＮ時代から定評のある名手ジョニー・ウリーンのギター・プレイはやはりグレート。ソロ〜バッキングに至るまで、テクニカルなパッセージをいともたやすく流麗に奏でる（弾くというより、奏でるの方がしっくり来る。）様はため息しか出てこない。

そしてそれ以上にロニー・ミリアノヴィッチの作曲するメロディの美味しいこと！
特に個人的に外せないのはキャッチーかつクラシカルなイントロで即悶絶のタイトル・トラック＃３“Anima　Mundi”と美麗な旋律が際立つバラード＃９“Forever　More”。それ以外にも、クサメタル好きの心をワシ掴みにするであろう＃１“Divine”、＃４“My　Heart　Is　Crying”、＃６“Eyes　Of　The　World”、＃８“Closer　To　The　Sun”などの佳曲が並ぶ。

１ｓｔアルバム以上の華麗な劇メロがたっぷり詰まったこのアルバム、未体験の方は、このレビューを機に是非触れてみて欲しい。

前作はNATIONでギターをむちゃくちゃ弾きすぎた為（だから売れなかったと本人も自覚している）、少し抑えてプログレよりパワー重視な作品であり、METALの世界へカムバックしてきた「とてもすんばらしい作品」。今作はNATIONの二の舞にはならないよう、さらなるFUN獲得の為こういう曲もできるんだけど、本当にしたいのはこういう曲なんだ！という事に重点を置き作られた。前作に比べ選曲に迷いがあるのは否めないが、今作品もすばらしいメロディを創りあげている。例えば、「あぁこの曲はこのリフから発展させて、、」とか、「このメロから作ったな」というのを一切感じさせない（つなぎ方がすんごい自然、違和感を感じさせない）完成度である。Dionysusの特徴であるギターがボーカルの様に歌うという（外国産では特にめずらしい）のはあいかわらず、タイトル曲AnimaMundiを聴く為だけに買っても損はしない。
