「世界初CD化」ということだそうである。今回のこのシリーズ発売に星五つである。82年リリースだから昔はウオークマンで聴いていたのだが、いまipodで聴いて少しも古さを感じないのは自分の耳が進化していないせいなのだろうか？それにしても1曲目のケニーゴーレリック。「ジェフローバー」といえばケニーＧ。洗練されたサックス、当時はおしゃれすぎて時代がついていけず、日本で彼がブレイクするのは数年後のことだった。ネイザンイーストのファンキーなリズムはどうだ。クラプトンのライブでも活躍するネイザンは、ジャコパスが死んだ年のクラプトンの公演で「お前のしるし」のベースソロをやっていたのを思い出す。ジョンロビンソンといえば、ルーファス。やはり若干ディスコ時代のにおいを放ちつつも、しっかりとしたリズムを刻む。ステファンガッドやハーヴィーメイスンではこのアルバムには不向きだったように思う。ゲストも多彩で、2曲目と5曲目ではトムブラウンが参加し、お得意のフレーズを聴かせてくれる。おっと、肝心のジェフローバーといえば、JLFの時からコンポーザーとしての才能をブリブリ出していたのは当たり前だが、このアルバムはとにかくセンスがいい。「フュージョン」の名をはずしてソロになったのも先見の明かもしれない。最後に。元の音源がよかったこともあるだろうが、このCDの音質はアナログ音源とは思えない良質なものである。それがまた、時代や古さを乗り越えてしまった要因ともいえる。
