   アンドレが3000だとするなら、ダンジョン・ファミリー仲間のシーロ・グリ-ンはさしずめ3074といったところかもしれない。グリーンはこの2作目でスタジオでの制作時間をたくみに用い、アーバン・ミュージックの最近のはやりを捨てて、かつての、あるいは今なおそうだったかもしれない姿を探し求めた。ソウル・マシーンというニックネームは「All Day Love Affair」でのグリーンにぴったりで、クセになりそうな甘い声が、完璧に配置されたストリングスと昔風のホーン・アレンジに見事にはまっている。

   以前のグリーンが見せなかったお世辞たっぷりの言葉使い（「I Am Selling Soul」「Sometimes」）やポスト・モダンなゴスペル（「Living Again」）マシーンとしての面も見せている。なかでも一番目を引きそうな「Glockappella」では、このグッディ・モブの元メンバーはかつての仲間をけなしている。また、ティンバランド、ジャゼ・ファ、ネプチューンズ、DJ プレミアといった外部から招いたプロデューサーは、グリーンがブラック・ミュージックの全貌をつかむのに一役買っている。たしかに、うっとりするような「Childz Play」で用いためそめそしたスキャット・スタイルのラップのフロウを受け入れられないリスナーにとっては、グリーンは何度も聴いてみないとその良さがわからないかもしれない。ファレル・ウィリアムスとのデュエット（「Let's Stay Together」）では、少ない音数を思いのままに使ってふたりのソウル・ヴォーカリストをまとめ上げている。エキセントリックな面はともかく、本作が聴かせてくれるのはラップ界でこれまで一番過小評価されていた才能の、楽しめるサンプルだ。（Dalton Higgins, Amazon.com）

元グッディ・モブのシー・ローの2作目。ネプチューンズやティンバランド、プレミアなど、多数プロデューサーを起用、スピリチュアルなハイ・トーンのテンション高いラップと歌の魅力を多面的に活かそうとの意欲は透けて見えるが、空回りした曲もある。

グッディー・モブという言葉はどれぐらの求心力があるんだろう。
僕には全くない。
その名前を聞いたのは、シーローの前作を聴いてからだったし。
彼が「元グッディー・モブ」だから、前作を手に取ったわけじゃない。
前作はゴスペルの影響が色濃く出たいい作品。
近作は「ソウルマシーン」というタイトルにある通り、

NEPTUNESのトラックで「ソウルを聴きたくなったら、本気だぜ、俺が命をかけて聴かせてやるよ」
と歌っている通り、ソウルが滲み出ているけど、ファンクの色も強いと思う。
それも下品なファンク。勿論褒め言葉。下品じゃなけりゃファンクじゃない。
ただ、全編にわたってファンクかというとそうじゃない。やっぱりソウル。

しっとり聴かす曲もある。「友達までまとめてハメたくなるほどホットな女」とか（笑）
オルガン、ホーン、コーラスそれにシーローの鼻にかかった高い歌声。
ほら、最高でしょ？
