   デビュー作『COME AWAY WITH ME』が世界的に大ヒット、グラミー賞8部門受賞という快挙をなし遂げた21世紀のシンデレラ・ガール、ノラ・ジョーンズの2ndアルバム。プロデュースは前作に引き続きアリフ・マーディンが担当しており、カントリー・ポップをベースにした癒し系ヴォーカルという点では前作の路線をきっちりと踏襲したものだが、ゲストを加えたり、カバー曲を入れたりと、よりバラエティ豊かな内容になっているのが印象的だ。

   ゲストについていえば、<7>「クリーピン・イン」でドリー・パートンとデュエットしているのが目を引く。これはドリーの世界にノラが歩み寄ったといってもいいアップ・テンポのカントリー曲で、アルバムの真ん中に入っていることもあって、チェンジ・オブ・ペース的な役割を果たしている。ザ・バンドのレヴォン・ヘルムとガース・ハドソンが各2曲に参加しているのも新味。このほか、カサンドラ・ウィルソンのバックでも活躍のギタリスト、ケヴィン・ブレイトや、ノラの大親友ダルーもコーラスなどで参加している。

   タウンズ・ヴァン・ザントの<6>「ビー・ヒア・トゥ・ラヴ・ミー」、トム・ウェイツの<11>「ロング・ウェイ・ホーム」、デューク・エリントンの「メランコリア」に自作詞をつけた<13>「ドント・ミス・ユー・アット・オール」の3曲がカバー曲だ。さらにうれしいことに、日本盤にはボーナス曲として、<14>「スリープレス・ナイト」が追加されている。（市川正二）

第45回グラミー賞主要4部門を含む8部門を受賞したノラ・ジョーンズのまさに待望の２ndアルバム。ただし購入するならこのUS盤が唯一のCDです。ビートルズ、クイーンはおろか、ノラさんまでCCCDで発売するとは。東芝EMIの方針に私は失望しました。ノラさんの美しい歌声、素晴らしい楽曲を規格外CDで聞かされるなんて、私には耐えられません。（ちなみにEU盤もCCCDですので要注意）The BandのLevon Helm(ds)とGarth Hudson(kb)がゲストで参加した２曲目の「What Am　I To You」、Dolly Partonとのデュエットが実現した７曲目の「Creepin' In」がこのアルバム最大の聞き所となるでしょう。私はUS盤でノラさんの美しい歌声を堪能します。さらば、東芝EMI殿！！

内容のすばらしさは他の方がかかれている通りです。しっとりとした前作よりもすこし明るめの曲が増えていて、よりバランスのよい出来になってます。問題は、ボーナストラックが入った日本版を買うか、CCCDではなく値段も安い輸入版を買うか、、ですが、僕は間違いなくこの輸入版をお勧めします。今回日本版のボーナストラックは、正直、コレクターズアイテムといったレベルのかなり地味な曲で、通常のファンなら、切ってもよい程度の曲です。（ファーストアルバムの日本版のボーナス曲は結構よかったけど。）それよりも、音質もよく、値段も安い、輸入版の方がお得でしょう。

第45回グラミー賞の大活躍ですっかり知名度をあげ、洋楽では独擅場といってよかったNORAH　JONESの2年ぶりの新作。前作を世襲する癒し系のサウンドは、期待通りの仕上がりといえるでしょう。プロデューサーも前作同様、シンプルに仕上げることには定評があるアリフ・マーディンとNORAHの共同プロデュース。この2年間のレギュラーバンドを中心にすえながら、豪華な顔ぶれが見え隠れしています。The BandのLevon Helm(ds)とGarth Hudson(kb)、最も輝くドラマー、Brian Blade、前作ヒット曲の作者、Jesse Harris(g)、Tony Scherr(g)、Rob Burger(kb)、そして、あのC&W界の大御所Dolly Parton、と、NORAHらしいバックアップ陣となっています。NORAHのオリジナルにＤＵＫＥ　ELLIGTONの作品などバラエティーに富んだ内容。NORAHとベーシストのAlexの共作でシングルカットされる「Sinrise」やブルージーなNORAHの魅力に触れれる「In the Morning」、そして、Dolly Partonとのデュオで、Alexander作「Creepin' In」は見事としかいいようのないコラボレーションです。こんな魅力が詰まったCD。是非、NONーCCCDのUS盤で聞いて欲しいです。日本盤やヨーロッパ盤は残念ながら、CCCD。この論議にはもううんざりですが、みんなが何を求めているか我々が示す良い機会だと思います。純粋にいい音楽をいい音で。
