呪怨を初めて見た時は、恐い!だけでしたが、後からストリーやカヤコの事を思い出してみると切なくなりました…。映画には入っていませんが、原作の小説の方には、何でカヤコが殺されたのかも書いてた様な気がします…。カヤコを殺してしまった 旦那の気持ちも…。少しだけど、カヤコの日記の内容も。映画見て、意味が分からなかった方は小説を読んでみるのもお勧めです!私は呪怨を見て、ホラー映画の観かたが変わりました。恐いだけではない!幽霊にだって気持ちがあるのです!観ても損はないと思います

ホラーなのにお祭り映画。

賛否両論分かれてますが、私はこういうの、好きだ。
心に傷を負ったヒロインも、思わず同情したくなるよな可憐な幽霊も、この作品には出てきません。
この作品には物語性なんか皆無です。
こういう場所に幽霊が出てきたら怖いよね、こういう所って何かありそうで怖いよね、と、みんなが思っている状況でなんか出てきて、なんかある、と。
ただそれだけ。実に潔い。

白塗りだとわかり過ぎの幽霊さん達も、それがどうした、と、すっかり開き直って堂々と出てくる。
私は幽霊なんだ、さあ怖がれ、と言わんばかり。
怖がればいいのか、笑えばいいのか良くわからんところも良い。

私の場合は、さあ泣け、感動しろ、本当の自分に出遭いなさい、心を温めろ、という映画に疲れていた時期にこの作品を観たのが良かったのかもしれません。
本格ホラーが好きな方、きちんとした映画が好きな方、
泣ける映画が好きな方は観ない方がいいでしょう。

偏屈で、理屈っぽくて、自分でも参るくらいに迷宮仕様な精神を持ち、それでも時に直球勝負なものに心惹かれてしまう方に、お勧めします。

2002年にＷＯＷＯＷが夏に行なった怪奇特集。
その中での最恐がビデオ版の「呪怨」「呪怨２」でした。
その恐怖は劇場版にも引き継がれ、「怖すぎて見れない」と中途退席者が続出したという話です。
その恐怖のパターンを私なりに例えてみましょう。
日本の恐怖映画の代表格に「リング」を挙げる人は、多いでしょう。
恐怖の対象「貞子」は、最後までまったく登場しませんが、
主人公が貞子の足跡を調べ貞子を理解することで、
だんだん恐怖がましていき、最後に｢貞子」の登場で
恐怖のクライマックスを迎える。
恐怖がどんどん集約されていき最後に一気にあふれ出す演出は、
まるで遊園地の「フリーフォール」みたいですね。
これに対して「呪怨」の恐怖の演出はは、「ジェットコースター」のようです。
最初から最後まで、恐怖が連続して起こり、息をつくひまもありません。
俊雄くんで脅かし、迦椰子でとどめを指す。
パターンを変えて何度も繰り返される恐怖には、決してなれると
いうことはありません。
しかも迦椰子の呪いの連鎖は強烈で、「ビデオ」を見ない限り
呪われない「貞子」と違い、呪われた人と何らかの関係があっただけで、
呪いの連鎖に取り込まれ、あわれ犠牲者に・・・

できればこの邦画版を見る前にビデオ版を見ることをお薦めします。
邦画版はビデオ版のリメイクを紹介されていますが、
実際はリメイクではなく、ビデオ版＞邦画版＞洋画版と続く
続編の関係だからです。
