　スペインのバレンシア郊外で下宿屋とバルを営む家の一人娘マルティナ。不動産業で裕福な生活を送るシエラが何かと彼女をくどきにかかるが、彼女は常に肘鉄を食らわすばかり。そこへ新任の高校教諭ウリセスが現れる。一目で恋に落ちるマルティナとウリセス。経済的には豊かではないが心満たされる甘い日々を送る二人。互い以外との生活など想像も出来ない彼らであったが…。

　前半は美男美女によるこの上ないほどロマンティックな恋物語として描かれ、見る側の心も浮き立ちます。しかしこの映画はビガルス・ルナの監督作品です。そうあの「ハモン・ハモン」や「ルルの時代」を撮ったビガルス・ルナです。私たちを夢物語の中に気ままにいつまでも遊ばせておいてくれようはずがありません。

　「ハモン･ハモン」でもそうでしたが、この物語の中に溢れるセックスは心の隙間を埋めるために倦むことなく繰り返されるものです。退廃的で甘美な恋に溺れる二人には悲しい代償が待ち受けています。しかし恋愛は理屈の紐でくくっておくことのできるほど大人しくしているものでは決してありません。「破滅」の恋だと分かっていても人はやはり恋に溺れてしまうのです。溺れることの中にこそ愉悦があるという秘密を知ってしまった時には。

~「トークトゥハー」で有名になる前にレオノール・ワトリングが出演し、大胆な絡みシーンとヘアヌード（きれいです）で本国で話題になった文芸ロマンです。オープニングタイトルはゆらゆらと揺れる海の映像が延々と続く。やがて海岸で泳いでいた少女が流れ着いてきた男の死体を見つけて悲鳴を上げる。なぜかワニの死骸も砂浜に打ち上げられている。さて、とい~~うお話ですが、冒頭のマルティナが洗濯物の自分のパンティをバルコニーから干すシーンに、もしかしたら面白くなるかなと期待したのですが、その後の内容は至って古典的とも言える三角関係と寝取られ亭主の復讐劇をスペイン風に描いた佳作になってしまいました。

もしイタリア映画だったら「マレーナ」みたいにあっけらかんで、叙情的且つコミカルに描いていたかもしれませんが、情熱とマッチョ精神のより強いスペインなればより芸術的且つシリアスになってしまったのかも知れません。~

海岸地方の女性は情熱的と言われる。海が人々をより開放的にさせるのだろう。
この作品の主人公マルティナは海岸地方の下町のレストランの娘。美しく魅力的な彼女にはお金持ちの男性も思いを寄せていて両親も彼とくっつけようとするのだが、彼女は下宿人の詩を朗読するしか能のない教師と深い愛に落ち自らの本能のままに生きる。
ヒロイン役のレオノール・ワトリングは美しいし、大胆な絡みやヌードシーンが多いのだが、それほどエロティックには感じなかった。ラブシーンは多数あるのにゾクッとするようなものはあまりなかった。
ヒロインや相手役の、自分本位な考え方や生き方に共感できなかったし、自分にはこういう行き方や愛し方ができない。だからこそ、こういう激しく燃え尽きるような愛に内心では憧れてしまうのかもしれない。
レオノールはこれから成長が楽しみな女優である。
