5.0 out of 5 stars X40使いなら必須のアイテム, 2004/12/21
IBM ThinkPad X40の標準バッテリと較べて、二倍の容量のLi-Ionバッテリー。使用環境にも依りますが、バッテリーがフレッシュな状態で満充電なら7時間強の実動が可能です。X40の液晶を最高輝度にしても、6時間はもっています。装着すると、X40の背部から多少オシリが出ますが、それでもサイズは奥行き24cm前後に留まります（25cmを越えることはありません。戸棚・本棚などの奥行きで25cmというのが多いので、これは重要）。このバッテリー自体に、小さいですが底面の脚がありますので、X40に装着しても、接地時にがたつきやバランスの悪さはありません。温度が上がったりの問題もなし。デザイン重視とかなら別ですが、モバイルしないと意味ないX40の場合、長時間駆動できないと意味ないと思いますので、こちらは必須アイテムかと思います。ちなみに本バッテリーはサンヨー製です。

X40本体は多少常駐ソフト類やサービスをスリム化しないと動作が緩慢ですが、うまく調整すればかなり快適な使用環境を構築できます。しかし、標準バッテリーは実動3時間弱。これではモバイルに心許ないです。故にこちらの8cellバッテリーが必須かと思います。新品で実動6時間半以上（ほぼ7時間）大丈夫です。多少出っ張り、且つ重くなりますが、液晶を開く時にキーボード側が浮き上がりにくくなりますし、わずかに足もついているので、設置した時にも接合部に負担が掛かることはありません。温度上昇も、変なノイズもありません。個人向けIBM PC販売自体がLenovoに移ることを考えると、少なくとも05年の春までにはオプション類の予備は買い揃えておくべきかなとも思います。デスクトップのように、自分でいじるというワケにもいきませんので。ちなみに、購入後は製造日のご確認を。未使用でも多少は劣化していきますので、フル充電時の駆動可能時間が正しく算出されているかどうかを確認するためにも、製造日はチェックしておかれるべきです。
