標準のバッテリーとあわせて5時間ほどの稼動が可能となります。
メーカー公表よりは当然少ない稼働時間ですが、これだけあれば十分です。

NY在住ですが、このバッテリーを使っている人をカフェ等でよく見ますよ

昨日入手しX41(2525-5AJ, メモリ1.5G）＋大容量バッテリ＋拡張バッテリでテストしました。バックライトは下から2番目、普通にネットしながら、時たま動画、音楽再生するという私の通常の使用方法です。
先ず拡張バッテリから消費され、約2時間で残量ゼロになりました。大容量バッテリは3.5から4時間持ちますので、トータル6時間弱となります。
確かに重くなりますが、例えばバッテリを2本持ち歩き、交換する手間ははぶけますし、デザイン的にも一体感があり悪くないと思います。
ThinkPad愛用者でバッテリを重視するなら、X40+大容量バッテリ+拡張バッテリになると思います。（7〜8時間は持つ？）

X40用の拡張バッテリーだが、ただでさえ重量級モバイルPCなのにさらに重くさせるだけ。
X40ユーザーは持ち運びを前提に使っている方が多く軽量性はマスト要件のはずだと思いますが、IBMは何ゆえにこんなオプションを作ったのでしょう？　　一度、意見を聞いてみたいものです。
バッテリー時間を延ばしたいなら、バッテリー自身をもっと持たせる技術を磨いて、こんなつまらないオプションの提供は止めてもらいたいものです。
バッテリー時間は他社製品（レッツノート）に比べ、短いのは周知の事実のはずなんですから。

いい所をあげると、この拡張バッテリーをつけると１５度ぐらいの傾斜がつくので（まっ平らでなく、傾斜がつくのです）、キーボードが打ちやすくなることぐらいです。

結論として、バッテリーをもし「もう一つ。」と言うならば、このオプションより、大容量バッテリーか、標準サイズバッテリー買った方がいいでしょう。

かく云う私は、会社からこの拡張バッテリーを支給されましたが、デザイン性や携帯性を考え、ほとんど使っていません。
通常はX40＋大容量バッテリーで使っています。

自分で買った評価ではないので、”買ってしまった自分を慰める私情”が入ったレビューではありませんので、客観的なレビューが書けていると思います。　ぜひ、参考にしてください。
