自分の人生でこれほどハマったゲームは他には無いです。

当時マスターオブモンスターズ、キングオブキングスのように
モンスターを雇って対決させるシミュレーションはありましたが、
信長の野望のようないわゆる光栄系のように
内政、戦略マップをわけたゲームは
ファンタジーでは初めてではないでしょうか？
さらにマスターも悪の大王、ドラゴン、巨人族、エルフと
すばらしいメンツ。

バックボーンもしっかりしていて
４メガ（だったと思う）
とは思えないデキです。

おまけ（？）のアクション単体でも私は楽しめました。

販売して一年を経過して発表された
真のエンディングにも涙です。

おそらくいろんなゲームに影響あたえたのではないでしょうか？
この後出たサターンのドラゴンフォースもやりましたが、
硬派なイメージがなくちょっと・・・

戦略性、キャラ、本当に良いです。

ファミコンやメガドライブで楽しんでいた
世代の方ならプレイされることをお勧めします。

・キャラが立っている
・ストーリー構築が完璧
・キャラクターの成長が楽しい
・音楽も素晴しい
・対戦がかなりアツい

と、あげればキリがありませんが、
シミュレーションが好きな人なら本作品は絶対に体験すべきです。

きっと、このゲームを作った人たちは納得がいくまで何度も何度も
テストプレイをしたに違いない。余計な贅肉は削ぎ落とし、ＳＬＧの旨味
だけを追求したような作品である。

非常に完成度の高い作品なのだが、個人的に特にすごいと思ったのは
敵の思考時間が皆無であることだ。それでいてかなり手強く、手堅く
攻めてくる。思考時間が長大なくせに敵が変な動きをする
アドバンスド大戦略と比べると非常に快適で戦争が楽しい。

それとあの時代に「高度」のような概念まで取り入れられてること。
たとえば、背の低いユニットは城壁を越えられず、背の高いユニットは
乗り越えることができる。蛇のような体系のユニットも越えられない。
地形効果もただの地形効果としてあるだけではなく、ユニットそれぞれ
にとっての地形効果が各自設定されている。
たとえば森の住人であるエルフは森を背に戦うと強敵になる。
そしてＣＰＵはそれらも考慮しながら戦ってくる。

この作品を買ってばかりの頃はそれらを知らず、
「前は楽勝だったのになんで今回はこんなに手こずるんだ？」
「同じ地形を進めるユニットと進めないユニットがあるのはなんで？」
「敵の動きの理由がわからない。彼らは何を意図してああ動いてる？」
と謎だらけだったが、その設定を知った時はあまりの作りこみに感動した。
これらの駆け引きと快適さのおかげで飽きることはなく、うちでは
もう十年以上現役のソフトである。

たしかMDで最初に買った作品だったと思う。
画面は固定で永遠と島の全景を写すだけ。
