カナダのパンク／エモ系の4人組フォー・スクエアのデビュー・アルバム。とはいえ、まったくの新人ではない。いまやSUM 41のプロデューサーとして名を馳せるグレッグ・ノーリのバンド、トレブル・チャージャーやアヴリル・ラヴィーンのバック・バンドなど、メンバーそれぞれに別のバンドでの活動歴がある。そんな連中が新たに結成したバンドだけに、このデビュー盤もいかにも新人らしいハジけるような勢いと言うよりは、しっかりと歌を聞かせている。ジミー・イート・ワールドと言うと、ちょっとホメ過ぎかもしれないけれど、パンキッシュなサウンドの中をさわやかなメロディーが駆け抜けるようなところは、ジミー・イート・ワールドのファンにもオススメしたい。（山口智男）
