PCエンジン版の「グラディウス」シリーズは、グラフィックこそ似ていますが、プレイ感覚はアーケード版とは全く別です。
決定的に違うのは、「ダブルが強力」ということ。
アーケード版では、ダブルを取ると単発（右と右上に１発ずつ）になってしまうのに、PCエンジン版では2発出ます。
その為、オプションを付けていれば、レーザーを必要とするのは細胞ステージだけで、あとは全部ダブルでOK。
また、全体的に難易度もかなり低いです。
コナミコマンドも使えますので、復活も楽です。
MSX版オリジナルの骨ステージがあるのは○。
音楽は、Huカードにしては悪くありません。

簡単ですが、その分私のようなヘタレゲーマーでも1周するのは難しくないので、シューティングが苦手な人には良いかも。

PCエンジンにしてはアーケード版の再現度はかなり高いのですが、不満な所が一つだけあります。それはレーザーの当たり判定がかなり雑に作られていることです。発射タイミングもズラすのが難しいのですが、それ以上に耐久度の高い敵(ビッグコア、触手細胞等)では全く当たらない場合があります。
せっかく家庭用機の「グラディウス」で初の横一画面の長さのレーザーを表現出来たのに、作り込みの甘さが残念でなりません。
