ホーン隊がスウィングしまくる、和製キャバレー・ソングの現代版。昭和歌謡風味をベースとしながらジャズ、和風ポップスなどの要素を多く含んでおり、その歌声は情熱的なのに歌詞はもの悲しい。たとえば椎名林檎が好きな方、これは試してみてもいいのでは? CCCD。

50~60年代のスウィング・ジャズと昭和歌謡の融合、なんていうと、“はいはい、EGO-WRAPPIN'っぽい感じね”って片づけられてしまいそうだが、6曲入りのミニ・アルバム『いっさいがっさい』でメジャー・デビューを果たす奥村愛子の音楽は、本物(簡単な言葉ですいません。でも、これしか思い付きません)だけが持ち得る、扇情的で濃密なバイブレーションに満ちていて、ジンジンと惹きつけられる。脚本家の父親と舞台女優の卵だった母親の間に生まれた彼女(この生い立ちがすでにエッチ)は、幼いときからジャズ、R&B、ロック、歌謡曲などに親しんでいたというが、本作にはそのプロフィールがめちゃくちゃに高いレベルで音楽化されていて、そのことはThe Thrill、鈴木正人(リトル・クリーチャーズ)、BLACK BOTTOM BRASS BAND、渋さ知らズという日本を代表する才能が参加していることからもわかってもらえるだろう。情愛の機微を描く歌詞、官能的な旋律、そして、聴く者の欲望をかき立てる罪深い声。 (森朋之) --- 2004年02月号

高校生の頃に思い切り背伸びして覗いた、大人たちのステキな世界。なんか、懐かしいような、いまでも心の底にあるカタチにならない憧れのような。ストレスとかで疲れた心に染み込みます。メロディーとリズムが期待を絶対に裏切らない。歌詞が切なくて、日本語って美しいなぁって。オンナの色気がこんなに心躍らせるものだったなんて、男に生まれてよかった。

ジャケットにひかれて、いきなりＣＤを手に取りましたが、大正解でしたね。
先入観なく聞いたものですから、1曲目の「いっさいがっさい」から聞き惚れました。歌の上手さは特筆モノですし、リズム感はよく、ジャズ・テイストにあふれ、発声がとても「昭和歌謡」していました。

こちらは、50代のロック中年で、それこそ10代から様々な音楽を聴いてきましたが、奥村愛子さんは、どこでこのようなノスタルジアにかられる音楽のスタイルを自分のモノにされたのかが大変不思議でした。でも、「古くて新しい」音楽スタイルですから、逆に新鮮ですよね。

「いっさいがっさい」に代表されるように、女心の切なさと愛しさを、韻をふんだ歌詞で華麗に綴る能力も素晴らしいものがあります。感情を声にのせるテクニックにもすぐれ、歌い上げる1曲1曲がとても量感あるものに仕上がっています。
シンガー・ソング・ライターとしての実力は図抜けていますね。
彼女のバックをつとめるBlack Bottom Bras Bandがまたいいですね。ノリが違います。彼女の歌声をよりひき立てています。

6曲目の金井克子のヒット曲「他人の関係」のカヴァーも良かったですよ。ちょっと鼻にかかったようなヴォーカルは、オリジナルの歌い方の雰囲気を醸し出しながら、奥村愛子さんらしさが十分にでたものだと思います。

不思議な香りのする「昭和歌謡の歌姫」との幸せな出会いがありました。
