佐野元春がついに動き出す。4年ぶりの新作を前にしたニュー・シングル。“本当のことがわかる日まで 泣かないで 目を閉じて 踊ろう”と歌われるロッカ・バラード。メッセージや曲調は一見、明るく肯定的だが、やはり混迷した時代を反映するかのように“明日のことは誰にもわからない 夜を越えてゆけ”といったフレーズも。カップリングの「ナポレオンフィッシュと泳ぐ日」のH.K.Bヴァージョンは腕利きのメンバーが揃った現在の佐野バンドをフィーチャーしたもの。ごく軽やかに演奏しているが、さりげなく凄いことをやっております。 (杉山達) --- 2004年01月号

４年振りのニューシングルとのことですが、あたたかくて愛に満ちた曲です。こんな時代に心から感動できる曲です。曲の随所で聞かれるコーラスワークも素晴らしいです。もともと「sail on」というタイトルでライブで歌われてきましたが、今回のレコーディングで「佐野元春のこれぞ代表曲！」へと昇華したと思います。若い人にも他のミュージシャンにもぜひ聴いて欲しい！。ラジオ等でがんがん流れるといいな！

包み込み、そして勇気を与える、正直久しぶりの快作！
Hobo King Bandの奏でる音は円熟味をまし、心地よく響き渡る。元春スピリッツが凝縮された1枚。少し元春から離れていた人もこれならすんなり入れると思う。

2曲目は「ナポレオンフィッシュと泳ぐ日」H・K・Bバージョン。8分35秒の大作に仕上がった。これはむちゃくちゃスリリングだ。すでにライブで演奏されているが最高のアレンジで蘇った。

以前、民放テレビ某番組で演奏されたこともあるのでファン以外にも耳にした人がいるのでは。グルーブ調の良い曲で、聴いていて気持ち良くなります。佐野元春（＆ホーボーキングバンド）の新スタンダードナンバ月ー間違いなし！東京スカパラダイス・オーケストラも参加しています。

子供を持つ親が、子供の成長を願う、そんな大きな愛をうたった曲に思えます。そう思って聞くと、子供をもつ私にはとてもしみる歌です。
とてもいい。
