ノスタルジックな復讐悲哀物を観たいかたにはお奨め。

不思議な映画です。制作は1996年と、意外と古くない
（でも、９年前か）のですが、画像がなぜか
「古くさい感じ」なんです。（そう見えただけ？）
撮影機材の関係なのか、そういう演出なのか、わかりません。

お話の時代設定も不明です。近代中国のようですが。
銃器はありますが、自動車はない。かごに揺られて移動して
いる時代ですし、服装も、「これぞ中国服」（人民服では
ないので、文化大革命よりは前か？）なんです。

荻野目洋子劇似の、主人公を演じる、チャン・ランチェエン
が、とっても清楚で、美しく、気に入りました。

ジャンルとしては、「冒険活劇」っていうんでしょうか。
なんとも、とっても不思議な映画ですが、めずらしさなのか、
面白さなのか、はたまた、主演女優が「きれい」なのか、
暗殺者がかっこいいのか、自分でもよくわかりませんけど、
なぜか、大変、「お気に入り」になってしまいました。

異次元で、ロマンチックで、恋あり活劇あり、復讐あり、
悲しい運命あり、ハッピーエンドあり、の、これぞ
娯楽映画！を堪能したいかたに、ぜひお奨めです。

　画面に流れるゆったりとした空気に吸い込まれます。
　チャン・イーモウ流の紅カラーがふんだんに散りばめられ
ていますが不自然さは無く知らず知らずのうち感情移入してしまう
マジック。それにも増して素晴らしいのがウー・チェンリェンさんの
気品ある美しさ。古きよき時代ばりの女優と言ってしまえば簡単ですが

それよりもわたしは中国や台湾のもつ奥ゆかしさを改めて感じ入り、
しばし呆然としてしまいました。

熊将軍と呼ばれるギャングの親分が、昔一家全滅を図ったときの生き残りの娘と自分の命を狙う殺し屋の男の生き方や愛を見て、改心するという、中国版「走れメロス」的ストーリー。因果応報が根底に流れるテーマ。ややシンプル過ぎるところもあるが、チャン・イーモウ作品なので紅の使い方を始め、背景がきれい。ウー・チェンリェンの気品ある美しさも申し分なく一見の価値はある。
