   変幻自在な作曲家、坂本龍一は、新たなコンピレーションCDとなる本作『Moto.Tronic』のライナー・ノーツでこう述べている――「ジャンルやカテゴリーや文化に立ちふさがる壁を壊したい」。無限の引き出しを持つ彼は、見事にその仕事をやってのけた。14トラックを収録した本作は、1980年代後半から90年代にかけてリリースされた作品を中心としている。サウンドトラック用スコア、ソロ・ピアノ作品、リミックスはもちろん、シンセ・ポップ、テクノ、クラシック、ボサ・ノヴァまで聴くことができるのだ。

   問題なのは、坂本の最大の長所である「多芸多才さ」が、コンピレーションになると最大の短所に転じてしまうことだろう。彼のアルバムはいつも内容多彩で美しく、さまざまなサウンドとアイデアを響き合わせて織り上げられている。それだけに、それぞれ色の異なるアルバムからカット＆ペーストしたものを1つにまとめると、キャリアの総括というより落ち着きのない男のひとり相撲といった感じになりがちだ。初心者には本作よりもサウンドトラック・アルバム『The Last Emperor』とか、Morelenbuam2 / Sakamotoのコラボレーション作、あるいはタイトルがすべてを語っている『Beauty』をおすすめしたい。（Tad Hendrickson, Amazon.com）

坂本龍一のベストでCDとDVDの２枚組で1642円はハッキリ割安ですね。
日本盤だったら、きっと4000円位はするんじゃあないかなぁ？
それに過去のベストものの中でも、かなり良い選曲だと思います。
ハッキリお勧めですね！

選曲、DVD付録、ジャケットデザイン、どれをとっても
優れていて、この価格。こんなものを日本人に内緒で
こっそり発売してしまう教授って、やはりスゴい。
DVDは国内プレーヤーで問題なく再生できたし、太っ腹。
音楽ジャンルもボサノバからテクノまで、というより
むしろボサノバとテクノが融合している曲もあるし、

これがまた心地よく、得体の知れない感覚を覚えた。
ソニークラシックがリリースしているだけあって、
「シブいオトナ」的サカモトが味わえると思います。

「僕は壊したい。ジャンルやカテゴリーや文化の壁を。」
ジャケットを開くとその冒頭に、教授のこんなコメントが大きく書かれてあった。
教授の足跡をたどれば、まさにこの言葉を有言実行してきたということは、ファンならだれでも知っているはず。その足跡を拾い集めたような素晴らしいアルバムだと思う。選曲もとてもよい。

長年のファンは、その足跡をたどっていけるのが嬉しく懐かしいし、初めて教授の音楽に出会う人は、曲のカラーの多さに驚くとともに、まさに色々なジャンルの曲に出会えて得した気分になるかも！
で、この値段で、しかもＤＶＤで昔の美しい教授が見られるのだから、
買って損をしたと思う人はいないと思う！！
