   アフリカの民族楽器をイメージさせる音色を導入したバック・トラックのなかに「ひとつにならなくていいよ ／ 認めあうことができればさ」という真摯（しんし）なメッセージを込めた「掌」。「ねぇ くるみ」という優しい語りかけではじまる、暖かく優しいフォーキー・チューン「くるみ」。11か月ぶりの新曲を収録した両A面マキシ・シングルだ。

   本来のポップ感と実験性を両立させたこの2曲、そして、ラジオ・オンエアのみで発表された「タガタメ」は、‘00年代以降のミスチルにとって大きな意味を持つ楽曲となるだろう。いずれも、日本のポップスの新たな可能性を感じさせる名曲だ。エンハンストCD仕様で、「掌」のPVを収録している。（森 朋之）

今更ですが、「くるみ」にはまっています。４０歳過ぎても、何回聞いても何回ＰＶ見ても泣いてしまいます。ミスチルは、求められた自分を外で演じていることに疲れた人が、ふと耳にして「何っ、何でこの桜井って人は俺の（私の）本当の気持ちを知ってるの？」って驚いて、密かに涙せざるを得なくなるバンドです。そのミスチルの様々な出来事を経た後の集大成が「くるみ」ではないでしょうか。それを理解された映像作家と、そしておそらくはそれを理解されている４人の俳優さん。皆さんに感謝します。この値段で普通にＣＤ買ってＰＶ見れるんですから・・しかも最強バンドの。

　ミスチルファンであることを今回は本当に誇りに思います。
「掌」は曲と哲学的な歌詞がとてもマッチしていて、かっこよくもあり切なくもある秀作だと思います。胸がかきむしられるような快感を覚えます。

　「くるみ」はメロディーを聴くだけでなぜか胸がいっぱいになって泣けて泣けて・・・そして映像を見てまた泣き・・・出演しているおじさんたち、泣かせます。最後は意味深な終わり方でまたじ~んときます。

ミスチルの曲は、さらっと聞き流しても「いい歌だ！」と感じ、歌詞を見ながら聴くとさらに「いい歌だ！」と感じますね。さらに今回の「くるみ」のＰＶは、あまりにも良く出来ています。じっくりと隅々まで見てください。出演者一人一人の表情、出てくるアイテムやその配置、考えつくされて作られており、単純に「感動」だけではなく「素晴らしい」と思うことが出来ます。
