三人の主役がヴィクセル・グルベローヴァ・パヴァロッティで、オーケストラがウィーンフィル、演出がポネルとなれば、よい映像にならないほうがおかしいともいえるでしょうが、それにしてもこのディスクはまさに非の打ち所のない名演といえます。もとの作品自体が、ヴェルディの作品中でも屈指の心理描写を誇るものである上に、完璧な歌、完璧な伴奏、完璧な演技、完璧な演出と、もうこれ以上何を望もうか、といった満足感を与えてくれるオペラ映画です。上記の三人以外の出演者達も、皆芸達者な演技を見せてくれる人達ばかりですが、やはり一番の見所は第二幕中盤のリゴレットの迫真の演技と、第三幕のジルダの可憐な姿でしょう。演出的には、最終場面の明け方の湖上のシーンなどがとても印象的です。そして何といっても極めつけなのは、ウィーンフィルの演奏の素晴らしさです。何気ない弦楽器の伴奏・何気ない管楽器のフレーズ・何気ない打楽器の一打ちに、なんと深く強い感情が表現されていることでしょう。とにかく、ヴェルディやイタリアオペラがそれほど好きでなかったとしても、クラシック音楽に少しでも興味がある方ならぜひ皆に観ていただきたい一枚です。

素晴らしい作品と演奏＆映像だった。まだ一度も観たことがなかったリゴレット。でもこのディスクは文句なしで一押しだろう。

パヴァロッティの輝かしいテノール、そしてヘロデ大王のような悪者ぶり。グルベローヴァの年齢不詳とも言える愛らしさと美しさ。この二人は本当に素晴らしい。マントヴァの映像と演出やセット・・どれもため息が出るほど。
パヴァロッティはルックスのみで言えば、「ボエーム」よりはこちらの方が断然威厳もあって体型にも似合っている。

ただ全く予備知識がなく観たので、あまりのひどい話に辛かった。マントヴァ侯爵は、まるでドン・ジョヴァンニかそれ以上にひどい！！　輝かしいアリアと裏腹の悲劇に心が痛んだ。原作はユゴーだったのも初めて知った。ユゴーは「レ・ミゼラブル」といい、まるで橋田壽賀子のよう。これでもか、これでもか・・と悲惨な話が続く。あ、違いますね・・逆だ。橋田さんが日本版ユゴー！？
