このベスト盤は、以前のベスト盤（1995年の『Greatest Hits』）を軽々と上回っている。『Greatest Hits』の収録曲のうち最重要曲はすべてそろえられ、さらにやや評価の劣る曲と、CDまる1枚分のレア・トラックも収められているのだ。
ディスク1では、スプリングスティーンのレコーディング・キャリアにおける最初の10年を追い、1980年代に突入するスター街道への足がかりとなった6枚のアルバムから、各2曲以上をそろえている。ディスク2では、世界的大ヒットとなった1984年の出世作『Born in the U.S.A.』から2002年の『The Rising』までのキャリアを追い、そのうえ「American Skin」「Land of Hope and Dreams」のライヴテイクも収録している。
ディスク1と2は選曲も曲順も『Greatest Hits』をしのいでいるが、意外性は少ない。意外なのは、“ボス”ことスプリングスティーンにとって『Born in the U.S.A.』が今では色あせてしまっているように見受けられることくらいだ。というのも、あのヒット曲満載のアルバムからは3曲しか選んでおらず、物足りなかった『Greatest Hits』と比べても1曲少ないのだ。
ディスク3は、初心者以外のリスナーにとってはここからが本当のお楽しみと言える1枚だ。ライヴテイクの「Held Up without a Gun」では、スプリングスティーンのこのうえなく強烈な、突風のような1分20秒のライヴを楽しめる。また、「Trapped」「Countin' on a Miracle」、カバー曲の「Viva Las Vegas」といったトラックは、代表曲と肩を並べる出来だ。（Steven Stolder, Amazon.co.uk）
