　「ジャーナリズムとは何か」と捉えている人もいるようだが、強大な力（権力）をもつ二つの業界を相手にする男たちの闘いは、ジャーナリズムに限定される小さな話ではない。
　本作で描かれる「葛藤」は、現代社会におけるさまざまなジレンマに通じるだろう。「社会正義」と自らの信念の双方に従う主人公の行動は、現代人の規範として優れている（無論、この映画が実話に基づいているため）。
　「社会派映画」として骨太に魅せる本作は、喫煙に関する今日的な問題点を指摘する部分もあり、生活環境条例云々というレベルで騒いでいる日本人に、是非観てもらいたい。“銃声のない、荘厳なる戦場へ”。

この映画はドキュメンタリーとしては、衝撃的であるし、面白いとはおもいますが、映画の作品として、娯楽性に欠けているのでは無いでしょうか。ラッセル・クロウでは「ビューティフルマインド」アル･パチーノでは「セルピコ」の方が実話を基にした映画として優れていると思います。

軽〜い気持ちで見に行ったら、重〜い（苦しいことはなかった）感動と共に見終わった「いい映画」です。企業にいたらこれほど大きな「悪」ではなくても、小さな「小悪」は結構ありますよね。自分がタバコ会社のサラリーマンなら２人の抹殺の手伝いをしていたんだろうなとやや自嘲気味な感想をもった映画でした。最近は「社内チクリ制度」とか面白い制度を導入している企業もありますが、あんなものを信用して内部告発したら一生浮かばれなかったりして・・・実社会では「勇気」と「馬鹿」が隣り合わせで住んでおります。いやあ〜ほんまに人生は難しいですわ。
