　ザルツブルク音楽祭での斬新な演出が楽しめます。衣装も全然東洋的じゃない！でも、そこがいい！当然ながら画質・音質とも大変すばらしいです。特にゲルギエフとウィーン・フィルの演奏は本当に最高で、これだけでも購入する価値があるでしょう。主役たちもよく健闘しています。特にリュー役のドマスがすばらしい！
　しかし、下世話な評価ですが、個人的にはトゥーランドット姫とカラフ王子は、もうチョット、スタイルのいい美男美女でみたいと思いました。劇場ではこのキャストで大感動なのでしょうが、ＤＶＤだとチト辛いなぁと思ったのは、私だけだろうか！？
　家庭で２枚目に所有するべきトゥーランドットの映像と評価します。１枚目は、ＭＥＴでのレヴァインか、紫禁城でのメータでしょうか。

　オペラの鑑賞で出演者のルックスが問題になるのは当然。しかし、それが絶対的だろうか？
　確かに、トゥーランドット姫は「老け」ているし、カラフは、歯を剥き出して・・・とか、些かとまどう面もあるが、トゥーランドットに不可欠の気品とか気位、冷酷なだけの彼女に熱い血と情が流れる変貌の様だとか、見事に演じ歌いこなしている。
　カラフにも、この表情でなければ、リューの献身的な愛に気づかない鈍感な男は演じられないようにも思える。
　繰り返し繰り返し観て、次第に、そうした想いが募る。
　そして幾度聴いても観ても厭きぬのは、極めて残酷な歌詞に反して、たとえようも無い美しい旋律を歌う、ピン、ポン、パン、三大臣の歌唱と演技。時にチラッチラッと客席に流し目する色気や遊び心なども忘れられない。
　彼らが「さらば愛よ勇者よ」と歌う時、衣装が中国風か否かなど一切問題ではなくなる。姫の我儘で中国が今まさに滅びゆかんとするのを、いかに惜しんでいるか・・・・・が、涙溢れる想いの中に理解できよう。それと同時に、こうした中国人の心情を作曲家が理解していた！？と不思議の感にも打たれよう。
　勿論、巨大なセットと多数の出演者の見事なタイミング。ボリュームを２倍、そのまた２倍、と言った感じで演奏できるウィンフィルの迫力、それを野獣のように操るゲルギエフの力量も感服。お薦め。

外国の良いオペラを観ていつも思うのが、日本のオリジナル演劇・ミュージカルの舞台演出の力量不足だ。
これ程までに素晴らしく作られた舞台を、日本のオリジナル物で作れる状態に無いのが、本当に残念。オペラは違う文化で創られた分野のものだから、仕方がないのだろうか。
このトゥーランドットは、古典的部分を大きく越えていて、現代演劇を好む日本人にも楽しめる作品だと思う。
容姿・体形をある程度無視しないと、オペラは成り立たないのが、日本人に受け入れがたいのかもしれないが、90歳近い森光子だって、その年齢とは程遠い役をやっているのだから、オペラ歌手が歌を第一優先としている以上は仕方ないだろう。
が、このリュー役のクリスティーナ・ガイヤルド＝ドマスはとても良い。
添付の解説書にも詳しく解説がされているが、男性が描く絵空事の女性ではなく、等身大の女性としてのリューをとても上手く表現していると思う。

楽しんで観れる作品なので、私も、2回目のトゥーランドットとしてはお勧めしたい。オペラに対して、抵抗感がある演劇ファンには1枚目でももちろんＯＫ！
