映画音楽というジャンルが、伊福部の創作活動を語る上での重要な一要素で
ある事は論を待たないと思うが、その中でもここに収録された「わんぱく王子
の大蛇退治」は、間違いなくその作品群の中でのマスターピースの一つである。古代日本神話という題材・縄文の（とでもいうべき）大らかさと勇ましさを感じさせる必要性・アニメ映画であるが故に要求される音楽の
雄弁性という点で、彼以外の誰が書けるのかと感じる程、魅力的かつ優れた
楽曲が多い。
兼ねてからの、オーケストラで蘇らせてほしいという
ファン（私も含みます）の強い熱望が、今まさにここにかなえられた。

何よりあのオープニングのテーマ曲、そしてアメノウズメの踊りの楽曲が
新録のステレオ音源で聴ける！
元々本作品の為に作曲された楽曲数は非常に多く、もっと、もっとあの曲も、
この曲も盛り込んで欲しい、という事を言い出したらキリがないのでやめて
おきたいが、いずれにせよ伊福部昭の音楽が持つ大きな特徴と魅力を存分に

味あわせてくれる１枚である事は間違いありません。
同録の交響ファンタジー「ゴジラＶＳキングギドラ」もそうですが、こうして
改めて聴いてみると、本当に我々の血を揺さぶる「巨きな」音楽が書ける人
なんだなあと感心かつ感動します。

「キングギドラ」のほうは平成ゴジラでの伊福部昭担当の第１作なので有名ですし、
サントラも出ています。
今回のバージョンでもそれほど大きな変更はありません。

交響組曲「わんぱく王子の大蛇退治」は、
ちゃんとしたアニメファンなら当然知っている、「白蛇伝」や「ホルス」などと並ぶ、
初期の長編アニメの傑作。
その劇判を編み直したものです。

オープニング曲も力強い名曲ですが、
「アメノウズメの踊り」こそアニメ映画音楽史上に残る名曲！

劇判バージョンよりも華麗で、
なおかつクライマックスの調子を外れたかとも思わせるほどの力強い演奏は、
何度聴いても圧倒されます。

わずか２~３分の曲ですが、その展開の豊富さ、あでやかさ、
そして日本の舞踊音楽的な側面からも、
巨匠の代表曲の１つに数えてもいい素晴らしいものだと思います。

「わんぱく王子~」のこの２曲のためだけに買っても充分おつりがくる１枚です。

　「芸術４」と同じく、映画音楽の再編です。「ゴジラvsキングギドラ」は
伊福部さんが言うとおり、「一回だけやって破棄す」べきだったかもしれません
（過去に一度演奏されている）。「恥をしのんで」まで出す必要があったとは
思えない曲です。演奏もいまいち。映画のサントラのほうがいいです。
　では、このアルバムは聴く必要がないのか。いえいえ、交響組曲になった
「わんぱく王子の大蛇退治」が素晴らしいのです。そっちだけ収録して
安くしてほしい気もします。曲、演奏、録音ともに「キングギドラ」とは
比較になりません。勇ましいメインテーマは一度聴いたら忘れられません。
「スサノオの旅立ち」はロンド・イン・ブーレスクにも使われた曲です。
「アメノウズメの舞」は何度聴いても飽きない、神秘さと美しさを持ち、
それでいて楽しい曲です。４章「大蛇退治」の最後は映画「地球防衛軍」でも
使われた曲です。組曲の最初と最後の歌はとても綺麗で、そして悲しげです。
他の映画（特撮など）で聴いたことのあるような曲もあれば、ここでしか聴けない
感じの曲もあります。ぜひ聴いてみて下さい。そしてアニメ映画「わんぱく王子の大蛇退治」も
素晴らしいので見てください。
