Immature改めIMXからMarquesがソロデビューアルバムをドロップ。まだ20代前半という若さながら、実にソウルフルなアルバムに仕上がっている。キッズグループであったImmatureのイメージを持ってこのアルバムに触れると、そのイメージとのギャップに驚くことは間違いない。R. Kellyのプロデュースによるアップからアルバムは幕を開けるが、まずこの曲は彼の近作で顕著なSnake風のバウンシーなチューン。ただあくまでも肌触りは落ち着いている。続く(3)も(2)を踏襲した作りで、R. Kellyのアルバムに収録されていてもおかしくない美メロバウンシー。そして(4)(5)、これはもうメロディーが美しいミディアム。ついつい曲に聞き入ってしまうような魅力がある。そこからは怒涛の美バラードの連続。(10)をはじめ、実にソウルフルな楽曲が続く。声に青臭さが残っている部分もなくはないが、でも時折はっとさせられるようなオーソドックスな歌唱法には痺れること間違いない。今後の成長が楽しみなデビューアルバム。

ビルボードでＰＶを見て、ＣＤ屋へ急いで、視聴せずに買った♪♪曲調はＲ・ケリーっぽいけど、ハスキーでとってもセクシー！IMMATUREの時よりずっとオトナの男になった気がするぅ…。で、ＭＨ出演のダンス映画“You Got Surved”もかなり気になるけど、米軍基地での公開も無いくらいだから日本公開はありえないかな？まっ、映画のことはさておき、ダンスナンバーもメロウなナンバーもありで、聴けば聴くほど味が出る“するめソングNO.1”です。

耳なじみしやすいメロディーラインといい、声といいまさにR.kellyをかなり意識しての作品。R.kellyが好きならば必聴ですね。秋口には聴きたくなるような哀愁激メロかな。しかし、一歩間違えば、グレッグデービッドに聞こえてしまうのはいかに。
