   ネリー・ファータドはこの2作目で、大きく方向転換している。アルバムタイトルが多くを物語るように本作では、多彩だがまとまりに欠けたデビュー作『Whoa, Nelly!』とは打って変わりアコースティック・サウンドを取り入れることで、前作とはまったく異なるさらに豊かな方向性を持ちこんでいる。

   ところどころシンガー兼ソングライターのサム・フィリップス（彼の作品は、アメリカのTV番組「ギルモア・ガールズ」の各エピソードを彩っている）のサウンドそっくりに聞こえるが、ネリーは彼女のアイデンティティーの大部分を占めるブラジル音楽の影響を失うことなく、これまで以上にロック色の強いサウンドを狙っている。ヴォーカルとサウンドは力強く、歌詞と音楽のいずれも、ひとりの若き女性が躍動感にあふれ、絶え間ない変化を続ける姿をあざやかに表現している。何とも心憎いサウンドの本作は、気の利いたリスナーなら大事に聴きつづけることになる1枚だ。（Rickey Wright, Amazon.co.uk）

　One-Trick Pony　はヒップのリズムにトラッドなエッセンスをふんだんに含有する曲。平面的でありながら程よいノリを感じることが出来ます。Feat. Kronos Quartet

　Powerless (Say What You Want)　シングルにカットされている楽曲でもあります。カントリーのような要素を感じる、曲ですが、おそらく彼女の民族的なルーツであるポルトガルの血が表面にあふれた楽曲です。広がりのあるサウンドと、繰り返されるバンジョーのリフが印象的です。

　Explode　前2曲よりテンポのある曲。緊張感を感じるタメをふんだんに入れておきながら、力強く安定感のあるハーモニーでサビを歌っています。他の曲より音の数は少ない気がした。シンプルってことですね。

　Try　綺麗な曲。後半の盛り上がりがいいです。

　Fresh Off The Boat　よくありそうな、ダンス・ポップですが、こういったものでも個性を放つのがネリーの才能だろう。

　Forca　またもやバンジョーの存在を感じる、カーニバル・サウンド。なんか矛盾していますが、そんな感じの曲です。と思います。この変則的なサウンドが個性を一層、素晴らしく感じさせるんですよね。

　The Grass Is Green　雰囲気を変えています。どちらかというと、楽曲に癖がなく、純粋な彼女の個性を楽しめる曲です。

　Picture Perfect　ブルースっぽいイントロで始まるこの曲は彼女スタイルからは想像できませんでした。歌い方もいつもと違う気がします。かなりクリアに歌っていますね。個性は隠せませんが、面白みのある試みだと思います。多重録音で彼女の声が複雑に絡み合っています。ぐるぐるってかんじですね。

　Saturdays　Feat. Jarvis Churchということで、セッション風にしあがっていますが、笑い声がいいかんじw

　Build You Up　しっとりしたストリングスのイントロでやや軽い気だるさを感じる雰囲気の曲。歌いまわしが彼女らしい。

　Island Of Wonder　Feat. Caetano Veloso　イベリア半島でジプシーが歌いそうなフレーズを見事にネリー風に作り変えています。エキゾチック・ネリー。

　Childhood Dreams　パイプオルガンの荘厳なイントロがまず印象的だった。

1枚目のアルバム Whoa, Nerry! からの大ファンです。あの独特の歌声、心地よいリズム、自身の経験から溢れ出る力強いメッセージ、全てが Only One の輝きとオーラを放っています。
2枚目の作品 Folklore では、社会やリスナーに対するメッセージがより力強くパワーアップし、サウンド面では自分自身のルーツであるポルトガルやラテン系ミュージックの楽しさがたっぷり詰まっています。
"One-trick pony", "Powerless", "Explode"などでは、そうした楽しさ＋躍動感が存分に感じられます。一方、"Try"（バラード）, "The glass is green"の歌詞では、自分の事を冷静に、客観的に見つめていることが伺え、人間的にも尊敬できる女性です。アルバム全曲、捨て曲なし！ジャケット写真やアートワークもいつも可愛らしく、ネリー独自のフレーヴァーで彩られています。故郷カナダを拠点に、歌詞の内容を実際に体現していて、本当に素晴らしい。環境保護やHIV撲滅などの社会貢献にも積極的に参加している彼女を見ると、"Powerless"の歌詞が浮かんできます―"Coz this life is too short to live it just for you / But when you feel so powerless what are you gonna do? / So say what you want!"―Nelly, I agree with you!

1作目に続いてポワフルなヴォーカルがよい！nellyの声は本当に独特で、よくある綺麗っていうより耳に残って離れない？？。
2曲目のPowerlessを始め、アコースティックサウンドの乾いた音が、これからの季節のドライブにもピッタリ！暑く照らす太陽の下でドライブを思いっきりエンジョイできそうな曲ばかり。

切ない声のバラードもよいが、やはりNELLYはアップテンポな曲が◎。
これからの季節にもっともっと活躍すること間違いなし！！！
