最初にKATY ROSEをcdショップで見かけた時に
最近話題を集め安い　ティーンのシンガーソングライター
という感じで売り出されている様に感じて
そんなに注目していませんでした
けれど　一度VMCでOVERDRIVEのプロモーションビデオを見た時
十代の瑞々しさと　カリフォルニアの熱い日射しの様な
勢いのある感性に　しだいに気になりはじめて

気が付くとCDを買っていました
正直　楽曲のインパクトが全体を通して薄かったり
まだ　曲全体に青いなと感じる事もあるのですが
彼女が語る　カトリックの学校に通い　自分が拒絶されていた
と感じた事や　大人に利用される事への怒り
そして　暗い人生の中に閉じ込められながら　
そこから出たい　生きたい　と言った感性まで

リアルに詩を通して伝わってきます
最後のタイトルにもなっているBECOUSE I CANは
鏡の向こうに行けたらいいのに　
夢を見るなら目を閉じても出来るから　
幸せな日々へ行きたい　など
幸せになりたい　明日へ生きたいという願いが
描写されていて　個人的にとても好きです
拒絶された体験や　自分の考えが受け入れられないと感じて
苦しんでいる人ならば　

彼女の曲を聞いて救われる所があると思います

Katyの「overdrive」を初めて聞いたとき、そのパワーに圧倒されました！！個性と音楽の表現力、そして声、すべて素晴らしいです！！アルバムの「Because I can」はそんなKatyの魅力がいっぱい詰まった最高の作品でした。元気がみなぎるポップな「overdrive」から始まり、しっとりとなんだか切なくなる「Because I can」まで全曲最高です！！聞く価値あります！！

彼女の声を初めて聴く瞬間にまず比較してしまうのはAvril Lavigneだと思います。
しかし、実際には彼女はAvrilとは全くの別物です。
アルバム1枚を通して聴けば、曲の多彩さや歌の感情表現の上手さ、
才能、可能性の全てを感じとる事が出来るでしょう。
早熟だけど、一方では少女の初々しさも合わせ持つ16歳。
強力にお勧めさせて頂きます。
