50年代からのレコーディングだが音質素晴らしく、解説も完璧で見事なＣＤ化です。マニアックにノベルテイと考えなくても、気軽なＢＧＭとして十分聞けます。それは軽やかなピアノのせいかも。しかしじっくり聞くと、たまらない深みがあって、アナログの空気感とか、軽音楽というものが成立していた時代背景とか、アメリカの田園風景とブロードウエイの対照とか、Ｗサローヤンの研究とか、子供が音楽に求めるものの変わらなさとか、さまざまなテーマが頭をよぎります。「少人数で録音すると奇妙なものができる」プロデューサーの言も含蓄があります。あなたもこの谷のように深い穴へどうぞ。
