   初心者向けのホームページ作成ソフトであった「FrontPage」が、企業向けのWebオーサリングソフトへと大変身。メインユーザーとしてプロのWebデザイナーやIT管理者を想定しており、ピクセル単位でレイアウトを操作できるレイアウト・グラフィック機能や、マスターテンプレートを変更するとそのテンプレートを利用する全ページが自動で変更されるWebテンプレート機能、デザインビューとコードビューの2種類があるコーディング画面、手早くタグを選択・編集できるタグセレクタを搭載している。

   JScriptなどもコードを記述することなくスクリプトツールを使って組み込めるので、対話型のダイナミックなページを作成する場合にもスピーディかつ正確にコーディングできるのがうれしい。また、作成したサイトの表示をブラウザと解像度のさまざまな組み合わせで確認できる機能もあり、ビジネスユースとしては非常に便利な内容となっている。

   本タイトルはサーバリソースを簡単に利用するためのツールでもあり、ローカルおよびリモート間でファイルを移動したり、FTPサーバーやWebDAVサーバーに公開することもできる。さらに、Windows SharePoint Servicesを連携させれば、XMLを含めたさまざまなオンラインデータを使って、WYSIWYGエディタでデータ駆動型Webサイトを構築することも可能だ。（秋月昭彦）

Officeもどんどん進化していて、ホームページ作りもこのFrontPageのおかげで格段に楽になりました。このソフトはホームページをMicrosoft(R)Word感覚で作成できます。まだ発売前ですが、装いも新たになり期待が持てます。是非使ってみたいソフトの1つです。
