『モダーン・ラヴァーズ88』を発表し、モダーン・ラヴァーズを封印して間もなく、ジョナサンはフェンダー・ストラトキャスターを抱いて、独りで日本にやってきた。東京渋谷のクラブ・クアトロでかぶりつきでジョナサンを２日間観た私は、神様である生のジョナサンを目の前で観た感動で、座りションベンをして馬鹿になっていた。その後もジョナサンが日本にくると、東京だったり福岡だったりと場所は違うが、追っかけ続けた。とはいえ日本でのジョナサンは動きもこのDVD同様強烈だったし、手抜きのパフォーマンスなんかしていなかったが、どこか違和感を感じていたような表情を垣間見せていたように思う。もちろんゲイルとの離婚などが重なった時期もあったが、それだけではない。その答えがこのDVDで見つかった。つまり言葉の壁なのだ。ジョナサンをグラウチョ・マルクスと比較する海外のメディアがいるように、ジョナサンの魅力の一つは機知にとんだ饒舌なべしゃりなのだ。それが日本人には通じない。おそらくジョナサン信者が多いスペインでも、ジョナサンの饒舌な英語は日本より理解されるだろう。つまり面白いことをいっても受けない日本に違和感を感じていたのだと私はハッキリと理解できた。このDVDではジョナサンの一挙手一投足にオーディエンスが狂喜している。なるほど……と私の中でのジョナサンが日本で見せたあの物足りない目はそこにあったのかとすべてが氷解したが、氷解したところで私が英語を理解できるわけもなく、ただ神様ジョナサンのパフォーマンスが観られるというだけで感動しなければならない。とはいえやはり星５つは揺るぎない。もし日本語の字幕が入った国内盤が発売されたら、星10個を付けさせてくれとamazonさんに直談判すること間違いなしの内容である。

頭から最後までジョナサンに釘付け状態のライブ！
ジョナサンから目が離せないこと間違いなし！！
ジョナサンのギター、声、ダンスどれもが最高！
観客もみんな楽しそうで、ライブでジョナサンの歌
聞きたいと強く思ってしまう。
ギターとドラムで、素晴らしいジョナサンワールドを見せてくれる
このDVD、かなりおすすめです。
