未発表ライヴ音源収録の3枚組。1972年6月25日と27日に、カリフォルニアのLAフォーラムとロング・ビーチ・アリーナにて行なわれたライヴの音源を収録。25分強ヴァージョンの「Dazed And Confused」、23分のWhole Lotta Love (Medley)をはじめ、全18曲約150分収録。

○レッド・ツェッペリン 紙ジャケット・シリーズ（全10タイトル）は5月28日発売。

   レッド・ツェッペリンが1972年にカリフォルニアのLAフォーラムとロング・ビーチ・アリーナで行なったライヴを全18曲にまとめた3枚組ライヴ・アルバム。72年と言えば、最高傑作の誉れ高い『IV』を発表した翌年。つまり、ここには最も充実していた頃の彼らの姿が収められているわけだ。実際、30年間、未発表だったことが信じられないぐらい、演奏はすばらしい。なかでも雷鳴のごときロバート・プラントのハイトーンのシャウトが改めて、当時の“大発明”だったことを認識させられた。オーディオスレイヴやホワイト・ストライプスが、これだけもてはされている今、これをロック・クラシックと言うことは、とてもできない。30年前の音が今、一番今っぽい、この不思議！（山口智男）

この作品を聴いた瞬間に思ったことはライブ作品なのにずば抜けて音がいいということです。私がこれまで聴いてきたライブ盤の中でも一二を争うくらいの聴きやすさです。
この作品でもっとも特徴的なのはＤＩＳＣ２・３に収められている曲一曲の長さです。一曲２０分を超えるものでもそれがただだらだら続くのではなくひとつのドラマのような連続性があり、聴く者をまったく飽きさせません。
私はペイジの冴え渡るギタープレイもさることながらこの点に非常に心を揺り動かされました。一度聴いてみてください！

噂には聞いていましたが、ゼップの名曲・名演のオンパレードで、噂以上にすごいアルバムでした。
ペイジのリフもプラントのシャウトももちろん格好いいのですが、やはりすごいのはボンゾのドラミングです。本当にこんなにパワフルかつ正確無比なドラムを叩けるのはロック界でもボンゾが１番でないでしょうか。

パープルのメイドインジャパンらと肩を並べるライブの名盤になると思われ、ゼップファンだけではなく、全てのロックファンにお奨めしたいと思います。
ちなみに、音が早く聞きたかったので、輸入版を購入しましたが、写真等はほとんどありませんでしたので、付け加えておきます。

　2003年、「結成35周年記念」ということで突如リリースされた発掘ライブ・アルバム。ジミー・ペイジは完璧な音源管理をしているため、ライブ・アルバムがリリースされたこと自体が「事件」であった。しかも絶頂期の72年の音源である。

　内容に関してはZEPの魅力が全て詰まった作品といっても過言ではないと思う。「移民の歌」や「ハート・ブレイカー」といったハード・ロック・クラシックはもちろん、「スノウドニアの小屋」や「カリフォルニア」といったフォーク色の強い楽曲、「胸いっぱいの愛を」では20分強にも及ぶジャムもやっている。

　正直、もっともっとZEPのライブ盤は発売してほしい。近年になって75年のライブ音源が流出したりしているので、音源は確実にまだまだ残っているのだろう。次は結成40周年記念の時に出るのかな？
