   マーヴィン・ゲイの『Let’s Get It On』が単なるセックス礼賛アルバムではなかったように、ミシェル・ンデゲオチェロのラブ・アルバムと言われている本作『Comfort Woman』も、単なる誘惑を描いた作品ではない。本作の中心的なテーマは肉欲とロマンスだが、ゲイの場合と同様、それらは解放をもたらす力として登場する。

 「あなたから自由になりたい」――ディスクの冒頭近くで、ンデゲオチェロはそう歌う。さらに、ボブ・マーリーの「Get Up Stand Up」から反ユートピア的な一節を引用することで、世界の救済というテーマをも打ち出している。本作の音楽的野心は大きく、同じリスナー層を持つ最近のネオ・ソウル・アルバムとは比べものにならないほどだ。何度か現れるダブワイズな手法とロック的なギター・ソロは70年代を思わせるが、本作はゲイやカーティス・メイフィールドの影響にほとんど縛られていない。『Comfort Woman』にはインスピレーションをみなぎらせ、独創性を全開にしたンデゲオチェロの姿がある。（Rickey Wright, Amazon.com）

このアルバムを聞いてファンになりました。うんざりするほどいるスイートなR&Bな歌姫達とは外れていて非常にカッコイイです。ゆったりとしたダブサウンドと浮遊感のある彼女のボーカルが最高にはまっている。のんびりじっくり聞き入る事が出来き、このサウンドに魅力される。ギターはNew Wave的だったり、とにかくサウンド的にカッコイイです。押し付けがましいサウンドの無駄が一切ない所も魅力的です。彼女の他のアルバムよりもこれが一番だと思う。静けさの中にファンクが聞こえてくるハズ!!

前作Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape（02年)から一年ぶりの新作。
ドラムとギターにゲストがあるだけで、他の演奏は全曲ミシェル自身によるもの。
前作よりもhiphop+rap+funk感が抑えられ全体に落ち着いた雰囲気が漂う好盤だ。

レゲエ調の曲が目立つが、今回、私が繰り返し聴いているのは、#3,6,7,10など、ゆったりしたグルーヴ感溢れるトラック。
ビンビンのスラップベースを聴かせてくれた過去作よりも今回ベーシストとしての彼女を最も強く意識した。
また今までで最もロック寄りなアルバムに仕上がったようにも思う。
特に、一瞬間を置いて後半がらりと展開が変わる#6.LILIQUOI MOONは鳥肌が立った。
当分ヘビーローテーションで聴くことになるだろう１枚。
参考までに、US盤に歌詞はついていない。

前回のアルバムより、強いメッセージ色やファンクとはまた違った音に仕上がっていて、今回は、レゲエやダブのような要素をふんだんに取り入れたアルバムになっているが、彼女の独特のリリックや世界観といったものは他のアーティストよりあきらかに抜きん出ている。別格！

このアルバムを聞いていると、アルバムジャッケットにちりばめられた星とともに溶けてしまいそうになるくらいすばらしく、質の高い音
秋の夜長にしっとりきます。
ぜひおすすめです。
