　ウェス・モンゴメリーのA&M移籍3作目にして遺作。オーケストラと共演したイージーリスニング的展開が硬派のジャズファンには評判悪いそうだけど、僕は大好きだ。このアルバムに入ってる"Fly Me To The Moon"は1970年代前半にTBSの午後2時からやってた再放送枠｢TBS名作ドラマシリーズ｣のOPテーマだったから。｢日本沈没｣や｢岸辺のアルバム｣とかを見る度に、一体何回聞いたかわからない。当時はタイトルもアーティスト名もわからなかったこの曲に再会するまで相当紆余曲折があったのだが、あまりに長くなるのでここでは省略。
　これをかけると一瞬にして30ウン年前にタイムトリップできる、思い出の1枚。

クリード・テイラーのプロデュース、ドン・セベスキー編曲で世界的にヒットさせた６７年のアルバム「ア・デイ・インザ・ライフ」に続いて、６８年に作ったシリーズ３作目。ビートルズナンバーの「イエスタデイ」とか、「フライ・ミー・トゥー・ザ・ムーン」いい曲ばかりだ。全盛期のウエスに比べたら、たしかに出来はよくない。コアなジャズ・ファンは商業主義的と、バカにする。でも、ちょっと待ってほしい。軽いイージーリスニングだっていいんだ。ウエスのおしゃれな１枚。人間関係に疲れた時、癒してくれる。 （松本敏之）

ウェスモンゴメリー。彼はこのCDの録音をした後、一ヵ月後の1968年6月15日に亡くなりました。このCDの中に『ロードソング』という曲があります。この曲をウェスが書いた意味として、一つ挙げる事ができます。それは、「人生は長い道であり、じゃり道もあれば、できたての道もある」です。おそらく彼はレコーディング前から自分の寿命はそう長くないと感じていたのではないでしょうか?そう思って買ってみてください。100%ウェスが後悔させません。
