前作フルメタル・パニック！は原作小説より長編・短編織り交ぜて映像化していましたが、
ふもっふでは短編原作のみを映像化しています。長編はシリアスが基本なのですが、短編は
コメディ一色であるため、ふもっふはコメディシリーズとなっています。しかしそれだけに
留まらず、制作クオリティの大幅な向上により、アニメ史上に残ることがほぼ間違いなしの
傑作となりました。

第一巻には幾つかの見所があります。
「南から来た男」放映第１話ですが、放映版ではアバンタイトルが一部省略されていました。
このDVDではノーカット版が収録されているものと思います。

「妥協無用のホステージ」「すれ違いのホスティリティ」はTV未放映作品ですが、それぞれ
れっきとした１５分もの完成作品。ストーリーが問題となり放映されませんでしたが、
特に「ホスティリティ」はシリーズ中でも屈指の出来。このような優れた作品を放送できない
日本の自粛体質には問題があるのではないかと、要らないことを心配させられる作品です。

「空回りのランチタイム」は宗介とかなめの関係を描いた良作。ラブコメ好きなら見逃せません。

前作の「フルメタル・パニック！」は、主人公の宗助と宿敵ガウルンとの対峙をメインとしたストーリーで、戦場を舞台としたかなりシリアスなものだった。それでもかなめやテッサやマオなどの魅力的なキャラクターが華をそえ、かなり楽しめたのだが、今回の新シリーズは、戦場やASでの戦闘シーンはいっさいなしの、完全な学園ラブコメ。

おなじみの戦争ボケ主人公相良宗助と、彼女にしたくないアイドルナンバーワン（？）の異名をもつ、過激な美少女千鳥かなめの名コンビのほか、脇をかためる個性的かつ魅力的なキャラクター達がところ狭しとあばれまわり、第一話からおなかの皮がよじれるほど笑えることうけあいだ。「ふもっふ」の副題の意味は、ごらんいただけるとすぐに分かるはず。

原作者である賀東氏が自ら脚本を書いている回も多く、このアニメへの力の入れようがわかるというもの。
画質も音楽も大変よく、原作や、前作を知らない人でも、文句なく楽しめる傑作アニメといえる。最近ほとんどTVアニメのDVDは買っていなかった私ですら、予約購入したほどのお気に入り作品。
一人でも多くの方に楽しんでいただきたい。

夫婦漫才の王道を行くベタな学園ドタバタコメディ。
コメディアニメとしては良く出来ていて面白い。
これはこれでありだと思う。

何故か無印の時と陣代高校のスク水が違っていて気になる所もある。
