この作品単体でもすごくイイ作品だなーって思います。
ストロークスの持つ独特の全体の流れ。
コレがすごく体に馴染むというかスーぅって浸透する感じです。
でも音は決してアコギとかじゃなくて結構歪んでたりして。
でもすんなり。不思議な感覚に陥ってしまう１枚です。
ギターのリフが結構斬新な感じで、聴いてていつも
「あーこう来たか、こう来ましたか！」
なんて感じちゃうのは僕だけじゃないと思います！
メロディを思わず口ずさんでしまうのも
ストロークスに飲み込まれたな〜っていつも思っちゃいます。

前作から2年を経て発売されたThe Strokes（ザ・ストロークス）の2ndアルバム。

前作に比べるとポップな感触が増したアルバムである。
どの曲も粒ぞろいなのは変わりないが、前作よりは「初めて聞いた人が聞きやすい曲」が多いのではないかと思う。
ただ、そのポップ感が増した事に対して「1stと比較した上であまり好きではない」という感想を持つ人も少なくはない。
The Strokes独特のクールな感覚が失われたとは思わないが、「1stと比較した上で」という感想はわからなくはない。

僕個人としては1stが成し遂げた偉大さを抜きにして考えれば、このアルバムは充分評価に値すると思う。
やっぱりいいメロディがあって、その上でのアティチュードだと思うので。

個人的に好きな曲は「What Ever Happened?」、「Reptilia」、「You Talk Way Too Much」、「I Can't Win」など。
でも、このアルバムも捨て曲はないなぁ〜。
好きな曲も聞く日によって違ったりするし．．．。

シングルカットされた曲はもちろん最高だし、他にも捨て曲がありません。
キャッチーなメロに気だるい歌声の裏に沸々と感じられる熱い魂。それに癖になるギターリフ最高！！まだまだ聴き足りないっす！
