　デビューアルバム『優子ときめくころ』の半年後にリリースされた本作は、石川優子の代表作だと思います。

　彼女の最大の魅力である、繊細で透きとおるような高音には一層磨きがかかり、逆に前作よりも高音をやや押さえ気味にしたスロー・ナンバーでの、しっとりとした表現には、前作よりもさらに豊かな感性の脈動があり、時には切なくはかなげでもあり、時にはこのうえもない幸福感に満ち溢れています。

　また、後の作品では徐々に薄れていってしまった、素直さや率直さ、あるいは純粋さといった彼女の人柄がストレートに映し出されている点は本作の最大の魅力です。

　どの曲も本当に情感が豊かで、様々な表情に富んでおり、まったく素晴らしいのですが、個人的には「目をそらさないで」が、石川優子の全曲の中でも最も見事なものだと思います。この曲で彼女を突き動かしている強烈なインスピレーションには、今もって圧倒されてしまいます。

　このCDを聴いていると、石川優子という歌手にめぐり逢えて本当によかったと、あらためて思わされます。

学生時代の四畳半の下宿部屋で、隣の谷山ひろ子ファンの住人と大音量で競り合って聴いていた石川優子のアルバム。
ファンになったのも喉の薬のＣＭだったか、デビューしたての優子ちゃんが初々しくクリスタル・モーニング「♪クリスタールモーニーング透き通ーる声ー聴かせて〜♪」を綺麗な透き通った声で歌っていたのを観てカウンターパンチを喰らってしまったもの。その後すぐファンクラブに入会。ＦＭ局出演と聞くや現地まで行って追っかけもして写真も撮った。デビュー当時は本当に可愛いかったし、歌唱力も現在のアイドルとは違って本当に歌が上手かった。
それまで洋楽プログレッシヴ・ロックしか聴かなかったロック野朗に歌謡曲を目覚めさせた張本人。
