老舗レーベル、ラフ・トレードの25周年記念、そしてカタログ100番目（意外に少なかったんですね）を記念したカバー集。現在所属しているアーティストが過去のラフ・トレードアーティスト達の楽曲をカバーしているんですが、選曲がなんとも渋い！アルバムタイトルに使っているにもかかわらずthe smithsがなぜ収録されていないのか、ストロークスの曲がなぜか2曲も入っているなど不可解なところもありますが、それはそれでラフ・トレードらしいのかもしれません。パッと見ではコクトー・ツインズのエリザベス・フレイザーが歌う5曲目とベルセバの16曲目が目をひきますが、どの曲も気合が入っていて味わい深く駄曲なしです。これは良い企画。お薦めです。安いですし。

なんもわからずに、「へ~、ラフトレのコンピ盤？メンツも結構良いし安いし」なんて思って買ってみたら、これはラフトレのアーティストがいろんなアーティストの曲をカバーしたやつだったようです。ジャケットは白い紙タイプので大きく25って書いてあり、なかにはさらに黄色い厚紙が入っててそんなかにＣＤが入ってました(なかなかのセンス)。内容的には、値段分の価値は十分あると思います。休みの日にのんびり聴きたい作品です。
